When I was a kid cheese meant little individually wrapped orange squares with the word Kraft on the package. That other stuff my parents would eat was dry and crumbly. You had to use a knife to get a piece! How am I supposed to sneak downstairs and eat cheese when a knife is involved! Dangerous!
Been there, done that.
the other day I discovered that the pepperoni I sliced up for my pizza had a wax paper covering, of course, that was after I’d eaten the pizza, puzzling over the strangely tough rind on the pepperoni.
Bet that made you feel like a goat. XD
I don’t remember ever doing this, but I wish I could bite through a pickle slice on my cheeseburger without pulling out the whole danged pickle in the bite.
I didn’t know that pre-sliced cheese existed until I was about 11 or 12 years old, but then it wasn’t these yellow cheddar-ish square slices, because it was white and tasted like plastic! It was disgusting! I think I might have seen tiny packages with these yellow cheddar slices at a grocery store, but I’m not sure…
Oh, and for some reason I find Biff’s teeth quite scary!
For some reason, I find that all cheese wrapped in plastic tastes like plastic. I am suspicious of any cheese that I do not cut for myself.
As kids, my sisters 9who were older) like to give my brother and myself sandwiches with unwrapped cheese. Even when Ma told them, they would still do it. Untill we just flat out demanded that no sandwiches pass through the girls’ hands. In front of our Dad. You get your poppa involved, things straighten out right quick.
Meanwhile, as a Native American, I love Commodity (government surplus) cheese. If you like cheese, you’ll love free cheese that comes in a solid brick.
way back when, i once grilled a sandwich. we had those special kind of cheese slices that came on wax paper slices. I’m still convinced to this day that I forgot to remove one of them on the cheese slices and ate it. Tastiest piece of wax paper I ever ate though.
I still prefer American Cheese to any actual cheese, except queso fresco. Mozzarella is all right, but nothing else appeals to me.
You have to check the packages on American cheese. Half the time it isn’t real cheese at all. Kraft singles are the cheese equivalent of hot dog. ‘Enjoy your cheese product!’
