#1461 – Cobbled

Biff and Maximumble had a baby and a 3rd comic strip was born! Check out my new comic at minimumble.com

I had a job in a stock room that required steel-toed boots. I didn’t realize this until after getting the job. Ever get a job that suddenly cost you money before you got your first paycheck?

    Interview clothes cost money, too, and you don’t even know if you’ll get the job.

    @chuck
    So true

    And I just realized that biff has feet, I though his shoes were stitched to him.

  3. Nope, I have never gotten a job that suddenly cost me money! …Well, actually I’ve never had a job at all… But I *do* know that the job I’m looking for (tattoo artist – but of course I’ll have get an apprenticeship first!) will cost me a lot of money in the beginning, because tattoo machines, autoclaves and such things can be very expensive!

    The best is minimum wage jobs that require uniforms that you must buy yourself.

    Yep. It was my first job: Ruby Tuesday, salad slave *cough* I mean Salad Bar Associate. I had to wear DARK denim jeans (no frills, holes, or fading. Try finding THAT 6 years ago with the fashion trend at the time being ripped and faded. Goodwill saved my butt there), White button down shirt (that I had to keep unstained -__- while working), and a black belt (they would actually not let you clock in if you didn’t have your belt. It meant that I had to work over the end of my shift while the replacement ran home/to store to get a belt). I finally broke down and bought more than one outfit. Washing the same clothes (or worse, forgetting to do laundry) got old really fast.

    My next job was in a test lab, and while not technically required, I dished out the cash for steel toes. I was working with and lifting 50-70lbs of steel fixtures on a daily basis, and I’m quite attached to my toes.

    1. Wizard says:

      And thanks to the safety shoes, your toes are still attached to you!

      (I assume…)

    I wonder if you have to wear steel-toed if you work at the NERF factory? Or if heads exlpoded when workers were told they had to?

    Doesn’t Biff have tattooed on shoes?
