#1310 – AAA

Chapter: Comics
I still have trouble with batteries in remotes. I never seem to have the correct size when I need them. This one takes “AAA” batteries? We have 30 “AA”, 16 “9-volt”, 6 “C” and 12 “LR44”. What I wish for is wireless power that will send electricity through the air from the television to the remote. Or maybe all televisions will have built-in cameras to allow you to operate all the basic controls with gestures.

You can do essentially the same thing with Kinect.
And when did Biff get such a long tongue?
I hate the fact that most remotes that require AAA have a plastic housing that could quite clearly be expanded to fit AA just fine. They have a lot of wasted hollow space in there! I have no idea why the AAA size even exists in the first place, other than to sell more batteries that die quickier.
I’ve found it to be very thereputic to blame nameless designers. All problems with everything technical can eventually be traced back to someone who was lazy or incapable of designing a better product!
Perhaps you should begin anew the Tesla idea of wireless electricity?
Microsoft are working on it.
So far, it’s only a game console – where are their priorities
What was Biff doing pretending to be a lightening rod?
>Or maybe all televisions will have built-in cameras to allow you to operate all the basic controls with gestures.
That’s very 1984esque.
“In Soviet Russia, television watches you!”
It was not that long ago that this was the province of paranoiacs. Now everything has cameras.
WoooOOooo…
βIn Soviet Russia, television watches you!β
1984 is now.
All the same, its not good to lick your remote.
But then you’d have to sit perfectly still to watch anything. Scratch your nose and the volume goes through the ceiling, change the channel every time you reach for the chips…
they are working on contactless batteries. maybe, one day, everything is powered by induction. poor bastards wearing a pacemaker…
I understand that a system for broadcasting electrical power over an area was developed years ago. It works nicely, if you don’t mind that it’s fairly dangerous. In the ‘It blew up pigeons’ sense.
@ Adrian: Biff’s head does look a bit like a Tesla coil, does it not? π
Am I the only one disturbed by Biff’s tongue?
@ Defenstar: This article might be useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_energy_transfer
@reynard61 I was just about to put in that exact link, so I’ll provide Commentary.
Over 100 years ago, Nikola Tesla invented Wireless energy transfer, and yet still we don’t have household electric fields to power and charge all our devices. Seriously Science. get a move on.
