#1305 – Prickle

My mom had lots of plants in the house when I was a kid. I liked to help fill up the watering can and give them all a drink from time to time. One day we were at the plant store and I got to pick out my own to take care of. I picked a little cactus. I was the “coolest” plant they had. Turns out it was a good choice. Every few months I would remember that I had it and when I would check on it it would be bigger than before.

Today’s Maximumble stares at rocks.

If you ever find yourself in Arizona, try the Cactus Candy there, it is Awesome. I try to snag a box or two whenever I get a layover there. It’s made from prickly pear cactus, not sequoia cactus, like Biff just tried to eat, but it’s still great.

Cactus Cooler is great, too, but that’s just because it’s orange soda and pineapple soda mixed together, and has nothing at all to do with cacti.

I have a cactus I named Cathy after Catherine O’Hara. I received it along with a bigger and different kind of cactus I called Eugene as in Eugene Levy. (At the time I received these cacti I was into a movie where Catherine and Eugene played porcupines) However, Eugene didn’t survive after being left out in the sun in the Pacific Northwest. He got sunburned and died. It was my father’s fault. Turned out these cacti were acclimated to the Pacific Northwest in that it’s cloudy and rainy.

Never forget your razor when visiting the desert. What ‘Those aren’t stubbles’? If they aren’t, why are they growing out of your skin?

  8. das-g says:

@Kree: No, Biff just confused the desert with the dessert, I think.

When I was a kid, we had a cat that would chew on my mother’s plants. She started replacing them with cacti, and one of the other cats chewed on those.
