Guest comic by Gene Ambaum and Bill Barnes

This week is The Book of Biff’s 5th birthday! Were celebrating in two exciting ways. First is the big birthday sale – all books in the store are 25% off for this week only! It’s the biggest sale we’ve ever done!

Plus all this week I have the amazing privilege of running guest comics by some of my favorite people in the world of comics!

Large PrintToday’s strip is by the creative team of Gene Ambaum and Bill Barnes from the strip Unshelved. A comic strip about a library and the people that live and work amongst the books. I have fond memories of the many libraries I’ve encountered in my life. 6 different schools and 6 different home towns. Those experiences are very different than the daily life of a librarian seeing me walk by from the other side of the reference desk.

I first met Gene and Bill in 2009 and they are an entertaining duo to be around. They are more like the fast talking couple in a 1940’s romantic comedy than the shy introverted cartoonists I imagined I would find at a comic show. They are the ones responsible for getting me out to Seattle for Emerald City Comicon the past two years. It was a privilege to get to spend time with both of their wonderful families and see the dreary and drizzly part of the country they live in. Go check out their strip Unshelved and pick up a copy of their latest book as well!

Today’s Maximumble has awoken.

Awesome, a guest comic from Unshelved, right after SMBC. Biff has some really cool friends.

Good grief!!! How far back have I been missing out on this? Imitation is truly the highest form of flattery, but the best I can offer is simple praise and gratitude. Thanks, and way to go!!!

May it be a long and further inspired way at that.
