#1170 – Gravel

I always wanted an aquarium that was build into an archway separating 2 rooms. I never really got past the “Hey wouldn’t it be cool…” part because I dont think I would be up for the maintenance on something like that. It’s probably best left for restaurants and theme parks.

Thinking about the restaurant in my town with an arch-quarium makes me hungry for Hibachi.

When we were little, everyone got a pet fish. They lasted about 5 days, until my older sister’s fish ate them. ALL of them. And one was poisonous, so then hers died too. Cheery, right? We still have the aquarium. We used it once for our turtles, but then they grew too big and now we have another one.

Actually, I’ve never seen an archway aquarium.

I can’t help but expect the next comic to involve Biff getting out of that. Congratulations, by the way – it must have been hard to draw a scrunched-up Biff.

My favorite part is the little ladder.

Hm, I never had any interest in pet fish. I’m sure the cats would’ve loved them, though. Actually… They *still* would.

I never kept fish. Only one sadly neglected hamster. A short attention span and a small animal do not an ideal combination make.

    I still feel guilty.

  5. I actually know a guy who builds those sort of aquariums for a living; he majored in Architecture, and specializes in aquariums. IIRC, the last thing he built was an aquarium in the banister of a stair-case. Talented guy!

Crushed Biff is awesome. And yes, the ladder 8-D

I have a gerbil in an aquarium now. Only excuse for me to own an aquarium at the moment.

By the way, been wanting to see Biff get hurt again for a while now. And you did not disappoint, Chris. Nice one.

Hm, am archway-aquarium would be fun. Especially with little kids in the house that won’t give a dump about it and crash their toys head on against the glass.

    …I’ll go get the WD-40…

  11. Peter says:

Thanks for the idea Chris. I was planning on opening up the wall between the dining room and the den for more light, but wanted to keep the ability to close off the room when not in use. Considering I was going to have to build a new wall anyway to correct the offset structural loads, I can build cabinets and shelves around a 55 gallon tank in the space between the two walls. Fluffy, my 16 inch long Plecostoma, should enjoy the extra space.

All I can say is … ouch.

  13. MaskedMan says:

    That’s a serious face-plant on the gravel… 😀

Reminds me of an old Steve Martin line:
“One time, when I was getting small, I climbed inside a vacuum cleaner. The drug wore off with me still inside… I retained the shape of a vacuum cleaner for a week.”

Squish! At my local aquarium, there’s a ring of jellyfish. It’s plastic and the jellyfish swim throughout the ring. I have to say, it’s one of the cooler exhibits in the aquarium.

  15. Cari says:

Fish aren’t pets. Fish are furniture.

However, they will follow a laser dot.

I actually have an aquarium with the Earth in it. It makes a nice conversation piece.
