Chapter: Comics
This is a problem I have. Especially when the chapter ends on a right-hand page. That big chunk of white at the bottom lets me know that it’s about to end. My eyes want to jump down to the last sentence sitting there snugly against the void. I almost always have to cover that page with my hand to concentrate on reading everything in the proper order.

Haha, I just did this the other day with Russell Brand’s Booky Wook 2. He was talking about his experience with Kate Moss, and he had me hanging on every word. I wanted to know how it ended soooo badly, and it was a right-page ender. I contained myself. It was so worth it.
Chris, you better patent that idea 😀
Bahahahaha the thing that made me laugh the most were the glasses.
I always have to resist skipping to the end and keep telling myself, “It’s better if I don’t read it.”… Which occasionally works. Ocassionally.
I have just completed studying for three days what others studied for 2 terms and passed a test with a B. I’m in a pretty good mood today. Not that you care, but… Still.
Since I’ve made a habit of saying it, have a brilliant day today!

My problem tends to come more from movies/TV shows when I realize there is only a few minutes left, and I start thinking “Well, things should be wrapping up right about now.” It’s kind of annoying and takes me out of the experience.
Seeing some of the stuff people buys, this could actually bring in big money 😉
The first page i read in every book that i think i will like, is the last one….
You know, those might help my daughter with her schoolwork.
OH, so those glasses only allow Biff to see one line at a time?

If I were to write or produce a literature book myself, I would in a way so that the final line of the chapter ends just at the beginning of the left page.

Don’t really have that problem… I just find myself staying up far to late into the night reading once something has grabbed my attention.
Indeed. And already knowing what is written doesn’t help either, as I thought it did.
For example, I was reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy for the 4th time and I still skipped lines, even though I memorized most of the events…
I hate when I do that! Sometimes I’ll skip over something really important, and then be all ‘ Wait, WHAT!?! ‘, and then I’m gently escorted out of the library…
Definitely feelin’ Michael on the TV thing too- the wondering of ‘Is this a special extra long episode/ how is this going to end/ is this going to be a two parter’ and all that remove you pretty harshly from the story.

Way, way, WAY too late. Prior art goes back at *least* a thousand years – those are the same lenses that northern hunters, explorers, and athabascans used to prevent snow blindness.
More recently, when I was in grade school, there was a text projector with a moving ‘mask’ that blocked all but about five words, and they’d use that to teach speed-reading by speeding up the rate of movement – You had to read fast, or you’d lose context and content retention.
It was a cruel time to be a student.
I don’t have this problem…
…but, considering I can read a book in less than a day…

It’s rare I actually comment on Biff comic, but this one… I gotta say, those glasses are a darn good idea for people like me. XD
the hardest (and most rewarding) thing to do when you get excited is to slow down…

we had just a piece of cardborad with slits liek theat. i didnt need it. i was fast, fluent, and didnt loose my place. reading has always been wonderfull for me.

I don’t usually want to skip to the end, but when I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I had a hard time resisting that urge.
I read magazines backwards. Is that skipping to the end?
I do this all the time. It was really bad when I was reading the last two Dresden Files novels. Especially since I don’t use a book mark most of the time. I had to force my eyes to slightly unfocus and only look at page numbers.
Week Theme=Sight. Cameras see, Telescope sees, you see only so much through the glasses.
when we would read novels and plays in school, i finished the book 50-75 percent faster then listening to people in the class read the book…..except for when i got to the end of the book i was bored for the next 3-4 weeks…..
