#1098 – Hoop

I still remember being introduced to basketball in gym class way back around 3rd grade or so. The ball was enormous and impossibly heavy. The hoops had a special little kid mode where they dropped down an extra 4 feet or so but even with that I could barely get the ball to hit the bottom of the net as it dangled a foot out of my reach. I liked it much more when I got older and could actually land a shot. I begged my parents for a hoop at our house and they promised to attach one to the garage that never got built.

  1. I had a hoop in an inclined drive-way growing up. You had to stand in the right spot for it to be regulation height.

Funniest memory was one the ball got jammed between the board and the hoop and someone who was over playing hit it up with another ball. The stuck ball flew up, the right back down and got stuck again. That was pretty neat. We got it out next hit.

Only Biff would play a sport involving what’s essentially a bomb. Good thing he didn’t pass it to someone.

Wait a minute – don’t backboards *always* explode whenever a ball hits them? Any ball?

    …don’t they?

that reminds me here’s how to make a nasty stink bomb step 1 find a film canister and then step 2 find an air duster and then step 3 turn the air duster upside down and spray into the film canister untill the film canister is full then cap it then step 4 once it is capped think of a place to place it quick then put it there before it explodes then the whole room will stink and the air will taste nasty and every one will leave the room

I sucked at sports as a kid (what am I saying, I STILL suck at them!) but basketball was one of the few that I sucked at slightly less than other sports. Being a bit under twice the weight of the average student didn’t help things any, but I found I could enjoy trying to shoot the ball into the basket a lot more than swinging a bat or trying to chase after the dude with the football only to “tag” them.

I was always very adamant as a kid that I would love to play football anytime, but only if it could be tackle football XD.

Are we not mentioning themes any more? I hadn’t noticed anyone mention yet that it’s obviously overpowered toys week.

    GUESS WHO’S BACK!!!
Five minutes into my 7 hour journey, I remembered you can’t get internet in a field.
Anyway, after my week-long holiday, I am back, and have just read ALL of the 7 comics I missed (*that includes todays*)

@tekaramity – So mine wasn’t the “One and only exploding basketball hoop”? Man, what a rip-off! I payed £10 for that! TEN POUNDS!!! (*gbp*)

@i.half4 – Yeah, two weeks ago, I’m SURE I was the only one who guessed (*i THINK it was 2 weeks ago*)

    UNRELATED MOMENT!!!:
Today, I caught up with TBoB, AND ALSO got to the most recent comic of The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. Both of these comics are absolutely amazing, I just wish I hadn’t gone through the archives so quickly, now I have to WAIT for updates, how cruel is that!
