#1074 – Aposematism

Some people are very picky about what they may find in free cookies that their coworkers have brought to the office. Anything other than chocolate chips is up for criticism. I love when someone brings oatmeal raisin cookie because I really like them and it make other people furious. “Arrrrrgh! Oatmeal raisin? Come on! Who want’s that?” More for me. 🙂

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who like oatmeal raisin cookies, and Commies.

  2. Vrominelli says:

  3. Paul says:

they are best when they are still a little sticky, i love em like that, dried out and crumbly they taste horrible!

  4. Greyryder says:

Peanut butter cookies are the best.

But, I will gladly take oatmeal raisin over chocolate chip.

  5. DaWombat says:

Oatmeal raisin are ok… but come on! White chocolate Macadamia Nut!

  7. Mike says:

I love cookies that have M&Ms or equivalent in them. Good thing the bright colors don’t make the cookie taste bad or poisonous.

  8. Fafnir13 says:

At first I thought they were giant cookies (ergo, a giant lady bug), but then I realized it’s just in the foreground. You know, like Giant Bubs.
And ew. I’ve heard they really stink when they get together in large groups. I can imagine what that going off in your mouth would be like.

  9. faldette says:

Oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, m&m? All good. Especially if they’re soft… Mmm…

  10. billy says:

People tend to focus on the oatmeal and raisin more than the word cookie. That’s the most important bit. As if it hasn’t got a whole heap of sugar and butter just because it’s got some raisins in.

  11. i.half4 says:

    JUST DESSERTS!!!

  12. Boo says:

@Fafnir- Those cookies may make you grow 100 feet tall, much like getting sucked down the toilet while shaving.

  13. DOlz says:

There was something about this weeks strips that just bugged me.

  14. MaskedMan says:

Heh! People focussing with laser-intensity on the nagative crack me up… Dude! They’re FREE COOKIES! Who cares what they’re made of..?!

OK, I’ll grant you that I’d leave the giant ladybug cookies for someone else to eat, but I’m still not complaining…

  15. Twilightfairy says:

I’d take those giant m&m lady bug cookies off your hands biff!

  16. grapy says:

chocolate chip cookies they are okay chewy oatmeal raisin cookies
they are better but my dads no bake cookies are like a mix of chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies and are the best snack i have ever had

  17. Cyndaquazy says:

I don’t like Oatmeal Raisin cookies just because I don’t like raisins. If you can provide me with an Oatmeal cookie, then I’ll gladly take it. If I’m really desperate, then I’ll eat around the raisins.

  18. Barn0wl says:

I loooove oatmeal raisin cookies! I also loooove chocolate chip cookies. Which is why I loooooove my wife’s spiced oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Yumm! I’m hoping to post the recipe soon on Recipe Source – where I already have some pressure cooker recipes; http://www.therecipesource.net/

@Cyndaqyazy – I love Cyndaquil. He was my starter for HG – Now a level 59 Typhlosion. 😉

  19. DtLe says:

    @Cyndaquazy

Me too. Although, I really hate oatmeal raisin because I keep mistaking it for chocolate chip. Ew, raisins.

  20. August says:

@DtLe- I have a somewhat converse issue. Where I go to school, they sell what I like to call ‘Deception Cookies’. You see the rough texture and dark spots and think ‘Oatmeal Raisin’. Wrong. It’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. This annoys me, because the people who don’t like raisins aren’t going to buy them based on their first glance, but the people that do like raisins buy them and then are disappointed. What a world.

  21. Howls Like Wolf says:

The first time I had oatmeal raisin cookies, I thought it was chocolate chip. I was less than five years old, so it was a VERY disappointed crybaby in the nice lady’s house (I’m pretty sure it was deliberate, because both of them burst out laughing at me.) It was about twenty years later before I ever forgave either her or my mom for not warning me of the nasty practical joke.

My favourite cookies are Christmas cookies. Well I guess they don’t have to be Christmas cookies, but just the homemade sugar cookies covered with homemade icing. I just love that homemade icing. Birthday cake is my other favourite dessert.

Chris I hope some of your coworkers who bring in oatmeal raisin cookies read this site so they will not feel bad about the others and keep bringing them in!

I concur about people complaining about free food. Although if I was one who would complain about it and worked there everything would get criticism at your work as I don’t like chocolate (oh know alert the media I am really strange, bacon is my least favourite meat out of those that I have tried)

  23. Baughbe says:

Cookies, love most any kind except the three month old dried out ‘butter’ cookies. And I always smile when I see the bumper sticker: Come to the Dark Side, We have Cookies!

  24. Alakar Voidus says:

I say, this is a good place to promote B.A.R.F. The Benevolent Anti Raisin Foundation. I LOVE cookies, I LOVE oatmeal Cookies, But I HATE Raisins.

    Sorry for double post, but…

    @Cyndaquazy: Cyndaquill forever!

  26. ElvenNight says:

OATMEAL RAISIN!!!!! Delicious. Though my personal favorite is coconut pecan. On a side note, ladybugs taste as bad as they smell. I was watching a movie at home and eating popcorn when I put a handful in my mouth and found a ladybug. Yum. It took a ton of brushing my teeth to erase the taste.

  27. Andy says:

I am very much against the infiltration of the chocolate chip into the oatmeal cookie zone. Whenever I pick up an oatmeal cookie I expect chewy raisins and not chocolate chip. Let the chips stay in the tollhouse where they belong. That being said, my wife has the best chocolate chip cookie recipe EVER.

  28. -2! says:

My comment should say “oh no” not “oh know” not sure how I managed that…

  29. Radical Edward says:

Ladybugs. I never really bothered with them. I have an assignment to make hoodies that are based off animals. It’s a project I put off for too long. I haven’t got around to the bug hoodies, but this I will tell you: They’ll be sized for both children and adults so the whole family can dress up. I plan on getting the whole family together in Seattle and dressing them up as the rare Iriomote Mountain Cat.

Why do I not bother with ladybugs? My mother allows them near our gardens to be on the lookout for aphids. But then again, not a lot of bugs live in the Pacific Northwest.

  30. IDK says:

I’m fine with oatmeal raisin. Though I will eat almost anything. . .

  31. Ameil159 says:

did biff eat the cookie to get rid of the taste, or was it supposed to be the ladybug?

  32. Rasheed says:

I can only tolerate oatmeal IN cookie form.

  33. David Byrnes says:

The best are chocolate chip pecan. Nuff said!

  34. jwalters93 says:

    wow…you have problems Chris.

    xD

naw, i just love chocolate chip cookies. in fact, they’re pretty much the only kind i’ll eat.

  35. HeidiK says:

If you make your own cookies, here’s a tip for keeping them soft and moist: use no white sugar and substitute with brown sugar! [disclaimer: this does NOT work with sugar-cookies.]
As for ladybugs, they’re a rose gardener’s friend! Even baby ladybugs eat aphids. Have you ever held a baby ladybug? They’re very sweet-tempered.

  36. Valdrec says:

What if you’re a commie and you like oatmeal raisin cookies? Do you create a hole in the time space continuum to an alternate commie world where Oatmeal raisin cookies are worshipped as gods?

  37. akigawa says:

    *wants
    ;o just sayin’.

  38. Sam says:

I’m a night janitor for several businesses, last night I saw a bake-sale table laid out with some very interesting pumpkin-spice-oatmeal cookies I’d like to try… maybe I should bring some cash tonight if they’re still there
