Pens can be a very personal object for people. If you deal with making marks on paper everyday it becomes an invisible extension of yourself. You don’t realize how important your exact pen is until it suddenly runs out of ink or becomes lost. You realize how many other kinds of pens have gathered around you, waiting for their turn to show you how crappy they are compared to the magnificent one that just vanished.

You could try seeing if that magnificent pen is being offered to the highest bidder by Zaphod Beeblebroxe’s specialty reclamations syndicate.
And then there’s people like me, who prefer mechanical pencils. (Actually, I mostly just work at the computer, but when I have to make marks on wood pulp, I reach for the graphite.)
I carry a japanese calligraphy pen and a fountain pen with me at all times. they are awesome. It used to be a lifelong dream of mine to run a pen out of ink, I always lost them. Then I ran the fountain pen out. I was very happy. Also, wonderful reference there i.half4.
If i write in pen, it ussually ends up all over my palm and fingers, and pencil is sometimes illegible, my handwriting has been described as dr. handwriting since the day i was taught. pencil doenst marc the skin as easily though lol

well, I got really bad luck with pens (they never work with me properly, getting stuck at the middle of a letter or so), so I use mechanical pencils as well (oh, and standard pencils hate me the same. They break all the time. Plus I hate when you have to sharpen them all the time).
Oh noes! 😮 However will Biff get clean the Chair of Insanity..?!
My wife is a nutjob about pens. She’s got some of the most ridculously over-priced pens on the planet. Sure, they write well, but a two-dollar high-end Bic does just as well. 😛 Heck, when one of her pens got dinged up, she sent away, overseas, to get a replacement barrel for it. Ah, well. It makes gift shopping for her easy. 😉
It seems to me that Biff has some trouble settling with his office’s wildlife.
It’s like he’ll never belong to his crazy universe.

I know exactly what you mean about the pen thing – just last week the trusty basic blue pen I’d been using since my first day on this job died. It lived over 6 weeks with daily use, and when it died… I literally went through 4 pens that day, throwing them all away because they weren’t good enough.
I once tried to touch my boss’ ‘signing’ pen, just to note something quickly – I wasn’t going to leave his office with it or anything, and he flipped the heck out. We as a people are just too attached to our office supplies!
I’m lucky; my favorite pen is both cheap and popular. (Pilot Precise V5 rollerball) I just buy a four-pack whenever I’m down to my last one, so I always have a spare ready to go.
I used to have a really cool pen that was shaped like a credit card. It was actually a pen and mechanical pencil set. Both were flat and could be “punched out” of the card when you needed them.
I wonder what ever happened to that pen…… (sigh)
might i sujest getting a ink refill?
I used to have a supervisor who would take someone’s good pen and leave his crappy one in it’s place.
Pentel RSVP is a good pen too.
That chair seems to grow two new handles/levers/knobs every time we see it…

hmm..yes that is true..just the other day i left my favorite pen by the computer in the pc lab at school…well the next day some girl had my pen..ugh i just stared aat her and thought damn you thats MY pen..now of course I had no way of proving it was mine so I just sat there in silent rage and settled for a mediocre pen.
