#983 – Marco

When I first heard that water polo existed, I was astounded. I knew it took a long time to fill my bathtub so setting up for a game must take weeks. I wondered how deep they made the water. I figured maybe about chest level. It had to be deep enough to make the game interesting but not so deep that the horses couldn’t breathe without scuba equipment.

wow, i hope there wasn’t chlorine in that water, he was reeeeeeeeeally thirsty o.O and the mental image of horses slowly ‘running’ through the water as polo players try to hit a little ball under the turbulent surface of the water definitely made me chuckle and wish the sport really was like that, i think it’d be more interesting ^_^’

Now he’s going to have to go to the bathroom soon and if he goes in the pool now everyone will know it.

Tomorrow’s comic will be titled Polo

As a (former) water polo player, I must tip my hat to you, Mr. Hallbeck.
Considering how violent it can get,* water polo would actually be a pretty good sport for Biff.
(*If the Referee doesn’t see it, it didn’t happen. Coincidentally it is rather hard to see things under water.)

something in biff’s stomach (area) has to be capable of compressing water… a lot. since biff drank most of a pool’s worth of water he’s got to weigh a _lot_ right now. unless he’s been peeing somewhere outside of the pool.

When there was a deadly tsunami a few years ago, I remember reading that some people knew stories that told what to do when the ocean suddenly retreated. It was only later that I remembered this book from when I was growing up: The Five Chinese Brothers. One of them could drink up the sea. It must have been based on one of those old stories.

  7. The Dukenator says:

@i.half4 Wasn’t there also a book about 7 brothers who could survive different things?

  8. starseedjenny says:

@The Dukenator – The books are one and the same yo. Five brothers 🙂

After four months of moseying through the archives, I have finally caught up. Very good comic; looking forward to seeing the new ones with everyone else.

@Corinthiar – Congrats and thanks for reading!

All that water. Compressed im Biff’s stomach. You know all that mass is now more of an energy state than solid matter… I don’t wanna be around when Biff belches… :O

  12. Guru Sweet Pickle says:

I can see the commercial now: “While Biff was sleeping, we secretly replaced his stomach with a Bag of Holding. Let’s see if he can tell the difference…’

You know GSP is a D&D geek by the above statement..you can tell I’m one too because I understood what he meant and laughed at it

@The Dukenator: starseedjenny is quite right. A boy convinces the first brother to drink up the sea so he can collect fish from the ocean floor. He promises to return when the brother waves his arms. But the boy is foolish and ignores the signal, venturing further out to gather more fish. The brother can hold the sea no longer and the boy is drowned.

The brother is held responsible, and is summarily sentenced to death. He asks that he may return home to say goodbye to his family. “It is only fair” says the judge, “return tommorow.” But the five brothers are all identical, except for their different gifts. One can hold his breath indefinitely, one can’t be burned, one has an iron neck and one can make his legs stretch. Each day a different brother faces execution by being thrown into the sea, smothered, burned and beheaded. Finally the judge declares that the brother can’t be killed and must therefore be innocent. The five brothers live happily ever after, but of course the moral of the story is not to be the foolish boy who got himself drowned.

    wow, Biff’s kinda ripped!

  16. i.half4 says:

Ummm… I meant paragraphs. Not “chapters.”

  17. Flinx says:

Man I would hate to be Biff when he finally realizes how much he needs to pee. XD

@Corinthiar — It took me a couple months to read all of the archives to, but I did it, and my life was forever changed. Biff’s (mis)adventures always make me laugh.

    @i.half4 — I remember that book!

  18. Heinrich says:

@cuzn jimmy – yay i’m not the only person who got that and laughed. 🙂

@flinx – biff now needs to go into the power washing business.

  19. Tina says:

Ha,I actually tried out for my school’s water polo team
the water is usually about a foot deeper than chest level (and i’m really short so it was quite hard to keep myself from not drinking the water)

It took me a moment, but this one made em laugh out loud.
