#933 – Marianas

I hate getting a headache when I’m in a situation where I can’t do anything about it for an extended period of time. Public transportation or halfway through a long walk are the ones that usually hit me. They are the kinds of activities that give you plenty of time to focus on how amazingly powerful your heart is as it pumps all of that blood so violently through your skull.

Sinus pressure getting to you, Biff…? 😀

  2. GURREN LAGAAAAANN says:

Yikes, if he opens his helmet his head will explode from the pressure difference. Lagaan, out!

  3. Miles says:

I used to get those in School. They were migraines, only I was male, and only women got migraines. I wondered why everyone thought it would get better if I lay down for twenty minutes. Hell, in thirty minutes I’d usually be vomiting. Stupid headaches.

  4. Sven says:

Even more annoying is that I’m nearly immune to any kind of painkillers. Only ibuprofen works somewhat in high doses. Paracetamol or aspirin, I needn’t bother taking those, it won’t do anything.

  5. Healerwizard says:

Water, gentlefolk. Men do indeed get Migraines. Splitting headaches, nausea, light sensitivity, are most often a sign of chronic dehydration going drastically worse for a while.

Water, water everywhere and no one stops to drink.

There comes a time in every young man’s life when he must choose between a having a splitting headache and getting the bends. This is your hour Biff. May the gods be with you.

  7. ZeoViolet says:

Walks will actually ease the pain of my headaches and I get them very frequently. Otherwise only Excedrin will kill the pain as acetemetophin doesn’t work and ibuprofin I’m allergic to.

The very rare migranes I get, those very rare killer headaches, I have to resort to desperate measures. When all else fails and I’m ready to run to the emergency room from the pain, an ice pack on the back of my neck (insulated please), one on my forehead at the same time, and lying in bed for a while (a short nap maybe) will bring the pain at the very least under control.

It wasn’t that easy to kill yesterday’s headache after I fell on the ice, though, flat on my back on the pavement. I just avoided cracking my skull in the process.

  8. Nilly says:

I get very nasty caffeine-withdrawal headaches. Used to think they were sinus or migraine related, but they’re not. >_< And nothing would work. The benadryl did, and so did ibuprofin but it always came back – but went away with coffee!

    Vicious cycle IS VICIOUS. D=

  9. Nighkali says:

Does Biff’s eyebrows get crampt up in that tiny helmet? I certainly hope they arnt claustrophobic.

  10. Nighkali says:

It also occures to me that this may be one of the few times that Biff’s expression matches the actual situation. Quick, take a photo!

  11. baughbe says:

@ Sven: I have the same problem. Unfortunately having broken my knee (twice), I have found just how much pain I can handle. It’s amazing how much you can handle when you have no choice, and all Morphine can do for you is make you feel a little drunk. Doc said it was the first time he had ever had someone beg to be taken off of morphine. Thats why I like Biff, I can relate to his pain.

  12. Draco Dei says:

I haved an aluminum pill keeper that goes on my key-chain. I keep some spare medicine for my Asperger’s Syndrome in there in case I forget to take it.

  13. soilent says:

How did he fit his eyebrows in there? They should’ve been wrapped 4 times around his head…

Anyway, headache + needing to bend forward to work = much fun.

  14. JamesT says:

@ZeoViolet: You realize that Excedrin is just acetomenophin and caffiene, right?

  15. PsychoDuck says:

@ soilet: His eyebrows are tied up behind his head in a sort of eyebrow ponytail. It’s quite fashionable.

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  16. Julie says:

Biff doesn’t appear to be that deep. You can see the surface.

  17. ZeoViolet says:

JamesT: Excedrin is *Aspirin*, Acetompetaphin, and caffiene.

Otherwise there is practically no caffiene in my life as I gave up soda nearly two years ago and don’t drink tea or coffee, or power drinks.

  18. Chuck says:

Healerwizard , I drink tons of water. I wish it did something for my headaches and nausea.

  19. P says:

There is a trick to relieve sinus pressure when aspirin is inaccessible, pushing on the roof of your mouth with your tongue, and down (not back) on the top of the bridge of your nose, back and forth a few times stimulates the mucus glands in the sinus, usually resulting in a clearing of the passages a minute or two later, often the headache disappears briefly with it.

  20. maxsteele2 says:

Random fish: “Ahhh… my headache is gone!”

  21. Micah says:

@GURREN LAGAAAAANN, Actually, being he is underwater his head would be crushed by the pressure, not explode…
