#845 – Voltaic

Currently my favorite coffee mug is just plain white. It doesn’t have a clever saying or a cool logo on it. When I was a kid I always wanted to get my parents to donate money to the local PBS station to get me one of those Doctor Who mugs where the Tardis disappears when you put hot water in it. But for now, plain ceramic will do.

Really, It’s only a matter of time before you need a computer and a working LiIon battery to drink your coffee.

the force field dinner plate had a better battery life, but it taught me not to eat in bed!

  3. Nicoli20 says:

Whoever marketed those force field coffee mugs ripped it off from my force field box lifters and force field scooter and skateboard.

Man…I’m glad that coffee didn’t land further south….

I don’t care how long its battery life is. I want that cup.

    W00t! Finally caught up 🙂

I had an Alice in Wonderland mug where when it got hot the cat disappeared, but i forgot it wasn’t dishwasher safe, and well, now I too have a plain white mug.

My parents had one of those TARDIS mugs. I stole it when I moved out lol. I love it, and it still works after all this time.

    I want that tardis mug!

  9. Mine is yellow with a stylized sun and says, “rise and whine”.

And I’d rather have a plain working mug than an iffy cool mug. Call me old fashioned, but I like drinking my coffee. Or eating my food.

Thanks Chris, for all the great comics. My 5-year-old is always excited to see Book of Biff, even if he doesn’t get them all. We really liked your zoo-themed week…

What happens to your coffee if you have a voltage surge..?

My main coffee cup is plain brown ceramic. It’s coffee-colored, actually.

I’d give money to a tv station for a Doctor Who mug! Doctor Who rocks!

My coffee/tea mug is one of those novelty ones with your name on em. Although lately it’s being used to deliver a supply of strawberry milk to my tastebuds instead of tea.

I drink my coffee from a blue ceramic mug. No logo, no picture, just plain. I just want my morning caffeine.

I wonder how you change the batteries…..

  17. Tukikagami says:

Plain white mug here as well…. though I drink tea, not coffee.

Heh. This happened to me yesterday. I got a glass out of the dishwasher still warm and put ice in it. I put it on my lap to get a can of soda open and the bottom sliced off. The weird part is it didn’t slice where there was an factory cut into the glass, yet there were no shards. Its a perfectly smooth cut, like it was cut in half with a katana in some cheesey action film.

  19. sco3tt says:

And you can’t take them back, cause dead battery = no cup!

  23. Radical Edward says:

I usually drink Mountain Dew in a coffee mug and all our mugs are colored plain. No fancy designs, just red, yellow, green, black or white.

  24. Bobbie says:

Heh, my grandma has one of the tardis mugs. She’s promised it to me in her will. Jealous?

  25. Capshot says:

One of my friends had a Tardis mug like that, I still want one…

  26. Spicynoodle says:

My coffee mug is double layered glass with the inside part being cow udders. It doesn’t burn your hands AND I get awkward looks! I think I saw something similar in Starbucks or something…

I’m a bit late to comment here, so I don’t know if you’ll check this Chris, but your wish is my command: http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/mugs/e568/
