#679 – Phosphor

Back around 1980 or so I got an Empire Strikes Back paint by number kit. The most exciting part was that it came with glow in the dark paint for the lightsaber and some other details. When I was done I still had some glow paint left over. I decided to put little marks all over my room to help find my way around in the dark. Door knobs, light switch, edges of furniture. My parents never hung around in my room right after the lights were turned off so I don’t think they ever knew.

I like the Death Star, X-Wing and Tie Fighter in the corner. Guess Biff likes Star Wars.

  2. corasg says:

Clever man Biff, clever man, just remember to keep the path clear.

  3. Tati says:

I WANT MY ROOM TO BE LIKE THAT!!!

  4. Ryan says:

Wow…Biff ideas are usually full of fail, but this one is full of win. Very clever. Very clever indeed. I might have to use this one some time. 😀

  5. JustRyan says:

    genious…simply genious, lol.

  6. MAX says:

i remember when i was a kid having glow in the dark stickers all around my bedroom so i woldnt be scared of the darkness. also i put some in the fan those looked preety cool.

  7. Caitlin says:

Haha, we had that in my parents’ house! We had arrows along the corridor to the toilet, bathroom, and bedrooms, also little stars next to the light switches 🙂

  8. Jonathan says:

    I think someone’s gonna get CANCER….

  9. Chris says:

That is a brilliant idea. When I was in college we did something similar with bleach water and a blacklight, and drugs of course. But that’s what college is for.

  10. Pieman says:

Brilliant idea…just hope that it’s not radium paint.

  11. PsychoDuck says:

I’m joining just about everyone else on this and saying that this is Biff’s best idea ever. I’d love some of this stuff myself, but I just know it’d drive my cats insane.

…wait… Can cats see glow-in-the-dark stuff? Would that show up with superior night vision? Crap, now I need to find out.

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  12. Micah says:

    Heh. Biff can’t spell.

  13. teh n00b says:

Biff’s best idea ever… the Star Wars, that is. 🙂

  14. joenis says:

When i had those glow in the dark stars in my room, sometimes I’d make them into things so i could see creature glow in the night…but i never thought about building my room its own navigation system. that’s just genius.

  15. starseedjenny says:

    That’s just awesome

  16. McGehee says:

I can’t recognize Biff without his eyebrows. He needs to make them glow-in-the-dark too.

  17. dareon says:

I’ve never played with glow-in-the-dark paint, but I have a large number of glow-in-the-dark objects in my room, so the effect is the same.

I’ve got a moon the size of a dinner plate, a two-inch-high skull, a couple of slugs, several Legos, and some rubber string.

  18. MaskedMan says:

    Hey!
My daughter uses the save navigation system! Well, not so sophisticated, perhaps, but then, hers is more aimed at stellar navigation.

  19. mahare says:

    That is so goddamn cute.

  20. the_gail says:

Good thinking Biff. My bedroom door was outlined in glow in the dark stuff when I was younger.

  21. I had the Ghostbusters Glow in the Dark paint set and had done essentially the same thing. I often wonder if that paint is still on the walls of my parents old house.

  22. ZackDark says:

I have a friend who did that to his room.
It was so cool to sleep over there, it always seemed like he had no ceiling and we could see the stars.
    I miss those days…

  23. MadDavid says:

I notice that Biff has to label his bed, even though the floral pattern is glow-in-the-dark 🙂

  24. Rasheed says:

I never had cool glow-in-the-dark stuff like that except for “Disect An Alien.” I was around six years old and took the thing to bed and got the gunk all over.
This reminds me of this one scene in Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. Pretty much the best part of the movie.

  25. Kenji the Ninja says:

My brother and I did that with a bunch of mirrors and a laser pointer.

  26. the teller of tale says:

I think i might need that

  27. random person says:

    Biff has Spongebob’s bed!

  28. Gaara1357 says:

lol he can’t spell dorr knob

  29. Ell Jay says:

Please… please tell me Biff is wearing pants.

  30. Dartigen says:

I wanted to do the stars thing on my ceiling once, but I was actually going to get out a star map and paint it all properly. Then I came to the realisation that the stars change. But I never thought of navigation – although, my room is so small that you don’t need a navigational system.

  31. Nero says:

I know I’ve said it before, but the best glow in the dark thing in my room is the gigantic glowing Pinhead poster in my closet. Makes people afraid to come into my room now. Lol.

  32. The Dustin says:

I have glow-in-the-dark paint on my walls, but since it’s underwater themed (not like little kidsy, but more correct with changing water depths and anatomically correct fish and an awesome hammerhead shark on the wall) it is on bioluminecent types of fish and jellyfish, as well as on the backs of jumping dolphins (to represent the moon reflecting off the backs of them)…. I’m not sure the relevance here…. maybe I’m bragging, but glow-in-the dark things don’t help when you wake up and your room is dark…

  33. Drakey says:

i am so doing this as soon as I don’t… you know. Live in my parebnts’ living room.

  34. Wizard says:

I’m not sure a glow-in-the-dark mask is a good idea, but it does look cool. What can I say, I always liked stuff that glows in the dark. Even though I generally can’t stand bugs, I love fireflies. How cool is a bug with a glow-in-the-dark butt?

  35. skywerwolf says:

why can’t i do that? well it may be because i have a small room and also i have Superior night vision. oh well. it would be good for my bothers room when i have to wake him up.

  36. Eleanor says:

I do the same sort of thing, I had some glow fimo and was fiddling with it and stuck it to my bwedside table, it makes a handy little marker in the middle of the night when I’ve just turned the lights off. I can tell where everything else is in my room from that little glow.

  37. i.half4 says:

    Jeepers, Biff!

Thank you for reminding me of another long-lost old friend.

  38. billy says:

I used to have a big world map in my room before I moved and I put glow in the dark stickers on all the cities I had visited. When the lights were out I sometimes tried to make constellations out of the tiny points of light.

  39. Twilightfairy says:

    That’s just awesome!

  40. Reg says:

Everyone’s commenting on the glow-in-the-dark, which is cool, but WHO or what is calling Super-Biff to duty in the middle of the night?

  41. Vidja says:

heheheheh, door nobb, Chris please make Biff make this year as bearable as possible

  42. Kenji the Ninja says:

Sorry for the double post, but Chris, how many times is this that Biff has been see without his eyebrows? He should have made those glow-in-the-dark too.

  43. D Jenky says:

One of my favorite things as a kid is when my dad would go out and get a couple of glowsticks. When it was time for bed he’d come into the room and crack the glowsticks, then he’d take a thumbtack and jab a few little holes in one end. At this point me and my sister would duck under the covers as he began shaking it around, making it spray glowly dots all over the room. We’d be up half the night running around to the dots while they were still wet and dragging our fingers across them to make little comets.
