#644 – Crush

Ugh. I used to have a reoccurring dream that I went into an underground cement hallway. It angled slightly down and curves off to my left. Something compels me to keep moving forward even though the hallway gets narrower and narrower. Eventually I have to turn sideways and shuffle along reaching with my right hand for some mysterious object. The walls press up against my back and chest, it’s now so narrow that I can’t turn my head to look behind me. I’m stuck, still reaching but never discovering what drew me down there and I close my eyes.

That is one creepy dream you have their, Chris.

Also, I was so sure that the friendly ball pit of my local McDonald’s would ever prove to be such a terrifying and life-changing experience. Leave it to Biff, I suppose…

    The Duck Has Spoken.

  2. Zaffa says:

Spooky. And of course there`s a freaky-swirly pattern on the back wall.

  3. speearr says:

That’s a pretty terrible nightmare…. what brought it on?

  4. Mike says:

Hilarious, yet quite terrible, possibly one of the worst nightmares one could have.

  5. Chris says:

Not really claustrophobic which is a damn good thing cause Asia is a crowded place. I’ve more than once been on a bus or subway where I was literally squeezed in so tight that my feet couldn’t touch the ground.

  6. SEA says:

    O-o, pretty interesting dream.

Anyway, what does everyone thinks he’s reaching for? Or is it just symbolic?

  7. RG says:

Possibly a valuable object of some kind. My dreams usually involve bizarre things like last night’s little… very kid-inappropriate dream I had about Digimon…

  8. Zira says:

Your nightmare reminds me of The Enigma of Amigara Fault by Junji Ito. CREEPY :<

  9. Kurast says:

My most reoccurring dreams revolve around zombies (one time it was the same dream over and over, with me losing the survival in various ways) or the endless hallway… Checkered tile floors, and a giant Jaws fin traveling between the cracks.

  10. steve-o says:

Hmmm…I’m really not bothered by tight spaces…until I can’t move. I remember once as a kid I was wrestling with a friend and he wrapped me up in a blanket really tightly. I then realized I was claustrophobic. I completely lost my mind. I started screaming “Get me out, get me out, help me!!” I mean, if you threw me in jail cell I’d be fine. Trash can? Whatever. But as soon as I can’t move my limbs…

What’s Biff stuck in? My first thought was a ball pit, but it looks a mile wide. Teehee. BALLtic sea

  11. i come anon says:

did anybody have an L tryptophan thanksgiving?
I almost passed out on the table.

Hmmm…. how come we’ve never seen Biff’s Wallet???

  12. starseedjenny says:

That is simultaneously the most frustrating and fun way to lose your wallet ever

  13. Foxhound2 says:

He’s not finding it any time soon.

  14. Kintatsu says:

    RG: Which characters were involved?

  15. CarrerCrytharis says:

Have you ever read ‘The Enigma of Amigara Fault’?

  16. Lisa says:

Today I discovered I’m afraid of heights. I did not used to be but now I am. I went up on my ladder to change my xmas lights and i was freaked out.

  17. Lisa says:

Oh and if you get some one to climb a ladder for beer, give them the beer after they’re done with the ladder.

  18. Hezzu says:

I have fear of crowds and my heart goes the “awesome” 200pbm when i get to the dining place in the school i work atm

And i have a very bad case of fear of heights

  19. dtanza says:

    I feel your pain Biff.

  20. Speakerblast says:

I’m scared of dogs… Pets lose their luster for me when their teeth are longer than mine 😛

  21. Christian says:

You implanted your dream in my head. Last night I dreamt that I was escaping a volcanic eruption by running through a covered pedestrian walkway and it kept getting narrower and narrower until I got to the end of it and i couldn’t fit out the the end.

Since today’s my birthday I’ll just consider that your birthday present to me. Thanks a lot, jerk!

Volcanic eruptions (the ashy Mt St. Helens kind) are a recurring dream for me, and I live in Portland, OR. But I’m a geologist by training so I don’t ever find these dreams frightening. I love those dreams and I usually feel invigorated after them.

  22. Twilightfairy says:

wow;…that’s a pretty horrible nightmare. Mine usually involves dying a slow painful death. T.T i prefer to have my untimely end, quick.

I love ball pits so I’d totally love being in Biff’s shoes. Minus losing the wallet part.

  23. Chris says:

    @Christian – You’re welcome!

  24. Mophtran says:

@Psychoduck: Ball pens are hella scary. You never know what is sitting at the bottom… They’ve found syringes and other lovely stuff in ’em.

  25. michael stell says:

@mophtran: yeah they found a living snake in the bottom of the one near my house.

  26. tom_ato says:

    I love the subtle background..Figure 8 is a great album ^^

  27. Ikaelamay says:

Just thinking about that dream makes me shudder. I’m claustrophobic. 🙁

  28. Trevor says:

I think I have reverse clastrophobia, I sometimes feel safer in enclosed areas, but it’s really nerve wracking if I’m trying to hide from someone in an enclosed space, even if it’s a friendly game of hide and seek or something.

  29. Trevor says:

Also, just thouyght that this was funny, because it was fear week, I randomly started listing diffrent phobias, and for some reason toastphobia popped into mind.

  30. Kurast says:

    @Trevor

    Toastphobia is serious business.

This is probably one of the many reasons Biff created the breader.

  31. Connor says:

I think I’m semi claustrophobic. What really, really gets me is open, deep water. I am scared out of my wits when boating on lakes or oceans.

  32. Hezzu says:

Trevor Wrote “I think I have reverse clastrophobia, I sometimes feel safer in enclosed areas, ”

Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces, maybe?

  33. Shorty says:

Wow…thanks (I think) for the slightly disturbing trip into your mind, Chris.

  34. Chezetoats says:

I have a fear similar to Connor’s with the open and deep water. We went boating once and I had to force myself to get into the water but then I was afraid something was going to attack me or something. The water bosses in video games are always the worst for me because it normally involves being in the water and waiting for this big monster to pop out somewhere and attack you. I dunno, maybe its just the fear that there could be something in the water that I cannot see or hear and I just have this feeling of blindness.

  35. starseedjenny says:

Ditto on the water thing. I’m fine when I’m in boats but if I’m like…floating in the middle of a lake or whatever with some friends I feel extremely nervous the entire time and if I’m out there for a while I will repeatedly wet myself

    but nobody ever kno-owssss

  36. jay says:

Wow, I had never read ‘The Enigma of Amigara Fault’ until I saw a few people post about it. Chilling really… Very cool read.

  37. Trevor says:

No, I don’t have agoraphobia, I’m fine with being outdoors.

  38. -JAD- says:

    Sorry, I don’t get this one either…

  39. Vera12 says:

I’m a complete idiot in my dreams. My worst ones are where someone is chasing me, but instead of jumping in a car and getting out of there, like an idiot I try to hide in plain site. They always find me, but I never change my tactics and I never get away. I usually wake up terrified. I’ve been having these dreams for years you think I would have learned by now.

  40. Soudaiya says:

I used to have reoccuring nightmares about ants when I was little. The one that happened the most involved me sitting up in bed, everything just as it was when I fell asleep, but there was a three foot tall ant standing next to my bed, and I put my finger in his mouth and he bit me. I always woke up crying. The last time I ever had that dream, I didn’t put my finger in his mouth and instead cried myself awake.

  41. Robin S. Firedrake says:

I had a terrrrrrrible dream last night. I knew there was something evil about this one guy I was talking to while in a building. Then he said something along the line of: “Oh and you might want to run. You’re friend can’t help you, the dire imp probably killed him already.” Then I got shoved outside into the night and I heard screaming and saw a car shaking back and forth like crazy. Inside the car was my friend shouting at the top of his lungs and what I must assume was the dire imp. It had dark red leathery skin, long claws, glowing red eyes, long black teeth, a sharp jagged beak, a creepy laugh, black cloth wrapped around him and everything and it was chasing my friend around the car like crazy. Then it looked at me and smiled evilly. The car door basically exploded off of the car and all light except the imps eyes dissappeared. The last thing I remembered before waking up was an unearthly screech and the eyes flying towards me.

  42. Radical Edward says:

I recently dealt with agoraphobia. I just couldn’t leave the house one day and then the days turned to weeks, weeks turned into months until one day not too long ago (It was during the first week of 2010), I decided to ride the bus to the mall.
