#554 – Famished

When I was a kid we came home one day to find that the dog had trashed the house chewing up slippers and such. It was very unlike her. Turns out we forgot to feed her before we went out for the day. Apparently that kind of a thing will make a dog lose her mind.

Our dog does that all the time. If we leave for the day, there’s about a 70% chance that, when we come home, she’ll have rifled through the garbage and strewn it across the kitchen and living room. What’s weird is we feed her at 7pm every day, and even on days when we leave, then come back before feeding time, she’ll still go through the garbage. We’ve basically gotten into the habit of either taking out the garbage before we leave, or putting it on the counter or somewhere she won’t be able to reach.

My iguana went berserk on the houseplants one day she had no food. She didn’t eat any but she ripped them apart, tore them from the pots and ate a liberal amount of dirt. Iguanas like the taste of dirt. When I came home she was in a hole she had dug in one of the now vacant pots.

Yay, I made it! Started reading the archives four days ago and just broke through! 😀

Busted up several times through… Jacket Repair… wow.

Adding this to list of regular reads; keep up the odd work!

Looks like Biff’s living room…is toast.

Sorry, I can’t resist a good pun. Unfortunately I can’t resist the bad ones either.

My favorite part is the toaster’s little bed!

One time I had a dog who made me a sort of sculpture out of potatoes while I was at work. I walked in the door, and right there was this carefully stacked pile of potatoes, each one with a single set of teeth marks in it, from where he had carried it from the pantry to the front door.

And Draco: All of my trash cans have some kind of secure lid. Most are the foot-pedal kind, turned so that the dog is unlikely to accidentally step on it (and besides they snap closed as soon as pressure is off the pedal). My current dog is otherwise great; she just likes to root through ALL trash cans — kitchen, bathroom, office, wherever.

What does one feed a toaster anyway?

  13. Chris says:

That’s so cool. A dog making a potato sculpture.

  14. Maria says:

Uhm, toast? It will give it back unless it’s hungry… most toasters are rather modest …

  15. no name says:

    Lol. I love Biff’s expression. So… distressed.

  16. no name says:

WAIT A MINUTE! BIFF HAS A JOB?!

  17. Chris says:

@no name – Sure, there are lots of Biff at work comics. The last week of May was all work comics. 🙂

  18. randomperson says:

Didn’t Biff mix snake DNA in the toaster in one of the comics?

  19. trevor says:

Do the toaster and the breader get along?

  20. Erica says:

Kinda sorta a new reader, I been a followin!! Biff is total awesomeness. He seems to be so brilliant that common sense is meaningless and bizarre genius is key. Heheheh overall he is a funny strange fellow.

    More strange than anything….
    yes, strange….
    But I loves it!

  21. the Scarf says:

    YES! RETURN OF THE TOASTER!!!!
Thank you Chris! I’ve been asking for this on the forums for AGES.

    WOOHOOO!
    *feeds toaster*

  22. Reynard says:

I just read the entire archive of biff comics in one day. Not one sitting, mind you, but one day. I had followed them up to about 200 or so, but today i decided to go and read them all from the beginning. It was quite amusing. I have this now to add to a list of comics that I have to check on a daily basis, but it like this one so I supose that it won’t be TOO tedious.

  25. Chris says:

Hey welcome all the new readers! 🙂

  26. brickface says:

Does his breader get hungry too?

  27. EvilRay says:

Great comic, found it recently and cant remember the last time Ive laughed so much. Just wondering if youve ever considered adding a random comic button, seems like it might fit the style of the strip?

  28. Chris says:

@EvilRay – Thanks! There should be a random comic button at the top of the right-hand column. Just above the search box. I use it myself sometimes. 🙂

  30. Shanchan says:

At least it didn’t piddle on the rug.

  31. starseedjenny says:

    Ahem.

I believe you feed a toaster BREAD.

Saying you feed it toast is like saying you feed a person…you know…

  32. trevor says:

The toaster has to warm up his food with himself, convient eh?

  33. Kung says:

    I love this one.

    Generally made me me lol.

I remember when I was a kid, we had a dog that, when she got her food in the bowl, would have to wait until the person giving it told her she was allowed to eat. One day, my mother was in a hurry to bring my sister and me to school, so she had put the food in the bowl but not given the go-signal yet. When she came home after bringing us to school and grocery shopping, the dog was still sitting there waiting for the go-signal. She hadn’t even touched it yet!

And nowadays, we just have a dog that rips apart the couch whenever the doorbell rings.

  35. jmkool says:

    The toaster returns!

  36. SurveySays says:

my mother had to go out of town for a couple of days so i went over to check on her dogs. i nearly had a heart attack when i found the coon hound covered in blood and the floors splattered. turns out mom had a tuna sandwhich before she left and the dog found the can. she cut her tounge while eating but continued to lick herself clean after her meal like she normally does. she was asleep when i found her. she woke up fairly quickly to my panicked screaming and crying at the thought that i somehow killed my moms favorite dog. when i called my mom and relayed what happened she just kind of sighed and said ‘yea, that sounds about right.’
