When I got old enough to go out trick-or-treating by myself I would get bags and bags of candy. I would first hit my neighborhood and then work my way out in criss-cross pattern. I had to come back to home base a few times to unload my haul when it got too heavy. I would make a mental note of who had the best stuff and at the end of the night I would switch costumes and hit them up a final time. The funny thing is that the candy would last me a full year. I could never actually eat it all. I would eat a few pieces a day but eventually I would run out of the top quality candy and lose interest in the rest. When Halloween came the next year I would have to dump out the solid chunk of congealed candy from the orange plastic pumpkin in my room to make room for fresh goodies.
