#316 – Breakfast

It’s funny. I would always get nuts and bolts mixed up when I was a kid. Whenever I asked an adult they would just explain it factually and I would forget all over again. If only someone would have said “You know… a nut looks like a donut.” I would never have forgotten.

We’re getting close to the end of the preorder! If you want one of the special versions, put your order in soon before the prices go up! 🙂

    Whats next jelly filled rivets?

  2. A Captain says:

It says something about my state of mind right now that I had to re-read that comic like FIVE FRIGGIN’ TIMES before I made the connection between “doughbolt” and it being shaped like a bolt.

The honour of having first post is sullied by the fact that I didn’t even get the joke. Sheesh.

  3. Mouse says:

I am so tempted to make doughbolts now.

I think somewhere my grandmother is cringing that the cooking knowledge she passed on to me is going to be used for such a thing but…Ooh I could fill them with dark jelly and make it look like grease.

Actually, I’m tempted to make a whole toolbox worth of pastries. The problem is my cooking skills don’t equal impressive artistic skills, and no doubt I’ll have to explain what everything is supposed to be…

  4. Micah says:

This reminds me of the chocolate revolver on South Park. Except, it looked like Cartman was about to blow his brains out until he took a bite out of the barrel.

  5. Kamorth says:

Holy Smeg. Okay.. that was a bit of a marathon effort, but I get paid to be here, so I’ll cope. I just spent the last 7 and a half hours reading the entire archive, from comic 1. I posted comments on a couple of them, simply because they made me think of something I wanted to say that would be forgotten by the time I made it this far.

Biff is awesome. My daily comic update list has increased by 1. So now it’s Biff, QC (www.questionablecontent.net), LICD (www.leasticoulddo.com) and LFG (www.lfgcomic.com)

Don’t panic Chris, I’m a member on the forums of the other three, so they’ll get the link to this too.

  6. Melindotty says:

Kamorth: Same here, only i read the entire thing two days ago 🙂

looks like your advertising is paying off, Chris!

  7. Caitlin says:

I read the archives when I first found this… I don’t remember where I was linked from, but I just saw one of the Biff ads on the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal ( http://www.smbc-comics.com/#comic ) site.

  8. trueblaze says:

When I was a kid, I used to get the words orange and blue mixed up. I could see the difference and I knew the difference, but when ever I went to say what the color was I’d get the two mixed up. Even now on rare ocations I’ll accidentally say the wrong one.

  9. 3686 says:

I was thinking why Doughbolt. Then I thought about “Hey! Donuts are like nuts!”, keeping the two completely separate till about 5 minutes later when it just went click. What is going on with my brain?!

  10. JezMM says:

Hmm, I don’t know what’s more interesting, the fact I’ve only just realised that doughnuts do resemble nuts, or the fact that the doughbolt he’s eating actually looks pretty delicious for some reason. If Biff ever becomes world-famous you should try manufacturing those. X)

  11. Sugar and bolts makes me think of the Candyfab at evilmadscientist.com

  12. Chris says:

Kamorth – I’m glad you liked them enough to read them all. 🙂

  13. Gobbledegook says:

    lol
    I want one, now.
I wonder what people would say if they saw someone else just casually take a bite out of a bolt?

  14. Robert says:

Oh, yeah…he really seems to be enjoying it.

So what about the don’t-nut? Man, that sounds retarded…”do-not-nut”. So instead of double negotiations, a “don’t-nut” should only be a “do”…uh…

Does anyone have the slightest idea of what I’m talking about?

  15. Louis says:

lol I’d eat one of those. But only if it was smaller. Very funny tho.

  16. Pride says:

Doughnuts are the best food in world in case you didn’t know. I think i could eat them all day but then maybe they might run out of Doughnuts and that would send the world in the great doughnut scare of 08.

By the way Caitlin that is exaclty how I found out about biff and from there
out I laugh at Biff’s misadventures. Good work Chris I am enjoying the comic

  17. Seraphine says:

    I love cinnamon twists. I hope I don’t
mistake a doughbolt for one, however.

  18. AwesomeAud says:

If you think about it, muffins look sort of like short bolts ….

  19. 3686 says:

Muffins don’t look like short bolts. I could just be referring to English muffins however

  20. nobody says:

    No not a pun, Lucretial.

    A BUN. *badum psh!*

  21. BlueWaterDragon says:

Hey mouse, Fill ’em with chocolate!

    Mmmmm

  22. Pickleduck McWeaselpants says:

OMG…that might just be the best idea EVER.

Would you be too mad if I pitched this idea to Tim Horton’s on your behest?

  23. The Crack Ninja says:

This wouldn’t be too hard to make. You just need the properly shaped pan. I think it would be a hit.

Chris my friend, you are amazing. as always.

  24. Garrett says:

I’ll probably start calling twists “doughbolts” from now on. They may not have the top, but they are screwy enough, and I’m screwy enough to call them that.

  25. Tuesday says:

Yay doughbolts. thing is though, he’s STILL eating the nut that’s screwed onto the bolt. So he’s still eating a doughnut.

  26. Three of Nineteen says:

No he’s not. That’s just the head of the bolt.

  27. Twigs says:

Biff always looks so angry. He should meditate more. Although knowing him, his head would probably float off and he wouldn’t be able to find it again.
