#247 – Spring

I’m more of an ice cream fan myself. My favorite flavor has been butter pecan for most of my adult life. When I was a kid it was mint chocolate chip. I think part of it was that it was green ice cream. When I was in college I discovered Ben and Jerry’s. My favorite from them was rainforest crunch. I’m still a little sad that they don’t make that flavor anymore. Cookie dough probably would have been my childhood favorite but nobody made that flavor at the time.

  2. Spooner says:

i’d like one of those too.
but yeah.. there are great ice cream sorts i’d like to have to start the summer.

  3. Andy says:

I’m gonna guess you make a reuben sandwich, freeze it, melt some chocolate and dip it in, and then freeze it again.

…I think I’m a bit too young here. I’ve never heard of Rainforest Crunch ice cream…

  4. Arctic Fox says:

LOL nice, hay where do you get those O.o i want one so bad.

  5. Magdalena says:

Ben and Jerry’s. Ah how I love it so…Phish Food or Cookie Dough are my faves from them…First itme I had them was when I was about 7, in one of those little Cinema based shops where they had the little tubs.

  6. Synchro says:

Awe, and here I thought Biff had his own take on a deep fried Twinkie or something. Silly me. Chocolate covered ice cream. Mmmm…

  7. Ria' Ayo! says:

I’ve been reading through most of your comics the last few days after finding a link on another website. I have to say, they are very funny and enjoyable. I love how random some of them get, yet at the same time, something about them all hits home to something real. You can relate to a lot of them, even if you’ve never had a chocolate covered frozen reuben sandwich. πŸ˜› I’ll defenantly be watching, keep it up!

  8. Elli says:

    …. A chocolate covered frozen reuben sandwich? This is Biff we’re talking about, so I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. XD;

Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream was my childhood favorite, but now it’s strawberry cheesecake. ^^

  9. Edd says:

    What the hell is reuben?

  10. that sound horrifying

  11. KungKong says:

I’m not much of a fan of icecream, It seems to give me a headache. =/

I’m not a fan of corned beef either.

I’ll stick with my chocolate covered leek and pasta popsickle with a spicy outer shell, made from cheese and onion crisps. (potatoe chips to some of you)

    *drools” =F

  12. Chris says:

    Thanks Ria’ Ayo!

For those of you that don’t know, here’s what a Reuben is.

  13. Natester says:

That is HILARIOUS. I knew you could do this with bananas, but I never experimented with sandwiches. I might try that…

    CHRIS
I’m still in high school. My last day is May 25(Thank God!). Try to make a comic with an end-of-the-year gag that is outrageously hysterical.
    Thanks

  14. Rono says:

sounds tasty and nasty at the same time…
it is never truly spring at my house until we blow up marshmallow peeps in the microwave…but this works too

  15. Eleanor says:

Sounds disgusting, but this is Biff.
    So I’m not surprised.
Here it’s not spring until I get my first hayfever attack and have to spend a day inside eating icecream with a cloth over my eyes.

  16. Semakora says:

    YUM! XD Sounds tastey! πŸ˜‰
    It’s spring here…. When… The calender says so… O_o

  17. Oddly Frozen says:

ITS SPRING???????????? I THOUGHT IT WAS STILL WINTER its all rainy and cloudy and totally not springy here, oh well, spring is spring and in spring i put potato chips in ice cream and eat it πŸ˜€

  18. Wannabeelf says:

my favorite Ben & Jerrys is karmel sutra. mmm carmel…

anyway, Ben & Jerry may have invented cookie dough, but they don’t make it best.

i would have to say my favorite kind of ice cream is anything vanilla based without fruit.

  19. Hiei Umbra says:

My favorite thing to do in spring that is related to food is to sit outside and eat french fries in milkshake. Mmmm.

  20. Seraphine says:

Biff is rather cute. His half-sleeve is a daring fashion statement. His diet, on the other hand, could use some improvement.

  21. kenshin620 says:

I think that’d taste good. Corn beef tastes good cold.

Though I can imagine the mess once it melts…

  22. DomanickX says:

    Biff has an Intresting diet

    Biff terribly hates soggy cereal

His taste in comic books is…Appalling

He made a cracker sandwich from Condiments

He made a fireplace out of cheese

He hates liquid nitrogen on his sandwiches

He eats caffeinated oatmeal for breakfast

He loves diving into/ordering/listening to/making pizza

I cant think of any others

  23. geeklord says:

I’m going to have to try that for myself. Of course, I try about every strange food Biff manages to come up with. I have caffeinated oatmeal every morning, built a replica of biff’s cereal throwing contraption, (haven’t tried it though, strange lack of willing test subjects) regularly eat cracker/condiment sandwiches, tried chilling my food with nitrogen, and LOVE pizza. However, I’ve never eaten a comic book or made a fireplace out of cheese.

By the way, my favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is
    Stephen Colbert’s AmeriCone Dream.

  24. Squall says:

Maybe Ben and Jerry’s will use this comic for a promotional new flavor or something. And, your fireplace isn’t made out of cheese anyway geeklord?

  25. dragonbrad says:

i just had corned beef 2 seconds b4 i read this

my favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is penut butter volcvano,i wish they still made that,it was chocolate ice cream with a punnut butter center with nuts on the top, they even had instructions on how to eat it with the best enjoyment

my brother suggest that if 2 things taste good separate the must be good cobined

and i know when its spring when i enjoy the fresh feeling of a nice new hair cut, which irronicly i just had a haircut today…so…happy spring πŸ™‚

  26. Nikanaiko says:

…Reuben? Um, Biff.. try ham next time, it tastes better with chocolate. Trust me.

  27. DMC_Run says:

    Chris, I feel your pain…

My own memory of a discontinued ice-cream flavor is from my 1st girlfriend, who was allergic to chocolate. She introduced me to the “Carob” flavor of Hagen Daaz (sic), which she referred to as “Locust Bean”. I was so bummed when they stopped selling it in the Tri-State area.

  28. Marcus Dranz says:

It looks like he’s got a tooth-ache… I think I might’ve been right about the toast-catching thing, except for the damage part. He’s nigh-on indestructible, it seems… Maybe he should get his head X-rayed. See if there’s something odd in there… Like an extra-thick casing around his brain.

  29. P. Reaper says:

Oh Biff and his chocolate. xD

  30. Garrett says:

So Chris, have you tried any of Biff’s weird food creations? First and foremost, have you tried a chocolate-covered frozen Reuben sandwich?

  31. This past summer I finally tried Ben and Jerry’s, and I went through a number of flavours. My favourite was Turtle Soup, but I checked today at my work (Wal-Mart) and we don’t have it this year. I haven’t tried Peanut Butter Tracks, so that’ll be the next one I try. I’m not much a fan of the chocolate ice cream in Ben and Jerry’s, as I find it too rich, so I usually avoid those with that.
My favourite ice cream isn’t actually ice cream at all. It’s Chapman’s (Canadian company, I think?) Cappuccino frozen yogourt. It has wonderfully delicious cappuccino flavoured iced cream with chocolate pieces in it. But, get this, the chocolate pieces have ground espresso beans in them, so they are kind of like chocolate covered coffee beans. Delicious.

  32. Yohimba says:

I think we are the same person, if one’s identity was based soley on ice cream flavors…

A Reuben Sandwich aside: I do not like swiss cheese, corned beef, sauerkraut or rye bread, but when combined and toasted to perfection? Oh my good googly that is delicious! However I think I will stop there and opt for neither freezing nor chocolate dipping.

  33. dragonbrad says:

oddly frozen i think you live in texas

  34. yakboy says:

there used to be an ice-cream shop i LOVED called shivers, they seved ofer 40 flavours there as well as milkshakes and chicken (which wasn’t all that good). Unfortunately they closed before i could try all of them. I do remember liking the reeses peanut butter cups flavour, though.

  35. Oddly Frozen says:

no, california =P i think we’re having a bad year

  36. dragonbrad says:

dang,i herd that texas was havin bad weather,

  37. calan ree says:

reuben’s are super yummy. i’m not sure about frozen on a stick though. i kind of like the swiss all melty and warm. mint choc chip is still one of my all time fave flavors of ice cream. as for ben and jerry’s it’s got to be cherry garcia and new york super fudge chunk. Mmm!

  38. pip says:

I lourves me some saurekraut, rye, corned biff, thousand eye land dressing, und Ich liebs me some chocolate…

  39. Miranda says:

In Texas we have Blue Bell ice cream which is the best (and only brand) I’ve ever had. If you go to their factory, they’ll give out samples at the end of the tour. It’s the holy grail for me. Mint chocolate chip has always been my favorite.

  40. bizzybody says:

Butter Brickle! But nobody makes that flavor anymore. πŸ™ Heath toffee crunch and its various knockoffs are NOT Butter Brickle.

  41. Rachel says:

  44. Darkpheonix XIII says:

    COOKIE DOUGH!!

  45. Sean M says:

I love Mint Chocolate Chip! But it has to be green, because it tastes mintier than white Mint Chocolate Chip.

  46. Cinders says:

    My fave is fosil fuel>

    what an ruben sandwich?

  47. solar says:

personly i like key lime pie on a stick its simaler to what biff is eating only its key lime pie insted of a sandwich

ice cream wise im wild for brownie batter its chocolate with chunks of brownie

  48. the walrus says:

I personally have seen Rainforest Crunch. Did they re-launch the flavor?

  49. Lurch says:

B en & Jerry’s can go hang. At best, it’s better than [insert favorite el-cheapo brand here]. Best ice cream I’ve ever had was from the University of Wisconsin. After that, it’s Hagen Daaz, hands down.

I’ve tried most flavors, but always come back to strawberry. I just sit down with a good (whatever I’m doing), wait 10 mins or so for the ice cream to go soft, and I’m in hog heaven.

  50. Note to Self says:

    Butter Pecan ROCKS!

  51. Pix says:

    One question
