#215 – Helium

I have an irrational fear of compressed gas tanks. When I worked at the ice cream store I always had to get someone else to change the tank for me. I don’t recall any childhood trauma related to compressed gas. But I’m scared of them for some reason. 10 points to the first person to guess Biff’s favorite soda.

Don’t tell me it’s Mountain Dew?

Are you in my astronomy class? Because we were actually theorizing about this happening two weeks ago. XD

  2. Crimson says:

Surge. Without a shadow of a doubt, Surge.

  3. Dantaro says:

And if not mountain dew, Mellow Yellow.

  4. Your_mom says:

Yeah I think it’s mountain dew as well……………………………………. or maybe that one soda….. Well I think it’s! “Insert right awnser here”!

  5. Leeds says:

sprint, which incidently was the very first soft drink I ever drank

  6. Jess says:

Could be Green River soda. I don’t know where they have it though.

  7. Karen Ellis says:

Is it pea flavour? No, wait, I know. It’s green tea, isn’t it? I nearly had green tea ice cream once and it was yummy.

  8. Tinned Moron says:

    Is it Irn Bru?

    Carbon Monoxide?

  9. The Crack Ninja says:

why do I get the feeling that Biff isn’t getting his favorite soda but is actualy making a suicide drink (mixing all the flavors together). I used to do that all the time when I was little. My parents always yelled at me though. Or he could just like lime soda.

  10. It’s either Mountain Dew ‘r maybe Surge. I think. I dunno. XD

  11. Blargen-Vargen says:

I wasnt aware that a softdrink could become a flying gelatinous mass.

  12. KL Sanchez says:

Clearly Biff’s favorite soda is in fact Mr. Ffib… which as we all know is a knockoff of Mr. Pibb. The company’s slogan is, after all, “Nobody FFIBS like us!”

  13. dragonbrad says:

    monster,no, vault,naahh,xmd,naw,ampd,darn no good ideas

  14. dragonbrad says:

i noticed i guessed all energy drinks

  15. Chris says:

10 points to Jess! It’s Green River Soda. 🙂

  16. Reikon Ame says:

Wow I wonder what a burp after drinking that stuff would be like.

  17. Eleanor says:

    Loud, and squeaky.

I would have said Sprite or Lilt, but I’m English, so we don’t have Mount. Dew, or Green river or any of that junk.

  18. Ratboy says:

    It’s clearly Slurm.

  19. Reikon Ame says:

Loud and squeaky just my style.
But then again Biff should find someone else to have a burping contest with to see if they could out squeak one another. I’d enter……….

WATCH OUT BIFF I’M A GONNA BEAT CHU!!!!!!

    😀

  20. Kuroiten says:

If he manages to bottle that stuff, he’ll either have a new form of transportation or an amazing novelty drink.

    …liquids on the mind, Chris?

  21. Blargen-Vargen says:

    Maybe its Time Soda classic

  22. RMS says:

    SLURM… delicious SLURM

  23. dragonbrad says:

has anyone had carbonated limeade, that could have been it, but what the heck is green river soda, is it good or is it horribly sucky

  24. LordRetard says:

Couldn’t he just hold the glass upside down? I think that’d be pretty awesome. Drinking *upside down*. Woah.

  25. Lucretiel says:

Why, it’s Time of course, remember? Also, at what point in working at an ice cream store do you use compressed gas?

  26. Phantom says:

Dude I would so stand on my head and drink that stuff straight out of the fountain.

  27. dragonbrad says:

phantom beat ya to it, i never thought about catching the soda in a up syd down cup

  28. Chris says:

That would be pretty cool if we had an upside down soda. 🙂

  29. Psychosis says:

    That’s hilarious!

  30. Madness says:

    I lol’d.

  31. It’s surge. Send a case to my WHOIS address

  32. XRS says:

Compressed Air tanks…. dont those tend to explodey if the compressed air comes in contact with a spark or something?

Maybe those are only the gas-ones.

  33. Wannabeelf says:

your fear of compressd air tanks is well founded. if you break the valve, they take off with enough force to penetrate a cinderblock wall like a hot knife through butter. i saw it on Mythbusters.

  34. zaranath says:

I’d drink that. Squeaky voices are fun, and I can get it without the danger of breathing helium.

  35. TKort says:

Hmm.. Lucretiel had a good point.. this seems like it might be the next phase of his time-bottling experiment.. now he’s trying to carbonate it.. but screwed that up.. how it’s gonna taste like fizzy stale (but at least it’s not flat!) rootbeer, ….. if you can drink it before it floats away (at which point it makes your voice squeek, and screws up the time/space continuum as well)

.. would you burp before you drank it? would it make you younger? or older?

  36. Nate says:

I see I’m the only one who finds it interesting that Biff has a soda fountain readily available to him.

  37. Bob says:

Me too. i had metalshop, and the last thing i ever wanted to do was take the Oxy acceteline welding test, for fear that gasses escaping from the 5 year old valve would leak and reach my torch, causing me to go up in flames, dropping the torch on the floor, causing some kind of horrific accident as the tanks explodes. My dad and gramps have huge air compressers for thier bodywork, for cars, sanders and stuff, and id get a bit creeped out when they would turn on to recompress for the air lost from the leaky valve. big 5ft by 2ft capsule shaped tanks, bigger than i was, all i could think about when i was working on my computers was it exploding and the shrapnel tearing thru the garage and everything inside it, including me.

  38. Mint Sharpie says:

    My parents looked at me funny after my laughter at this ^^;

  39. Radical Edward says:

I used to make bug juice as a kid (mixing all the sodas together) when we went for McDonalds…

  40. Iodine says:

Is his favorite soda perchance Fizzy Lifting Drink?

  41. Darkpheonix XIII says:

Hmm… Speaking of tanks, my welding teacher told the class a few stories from his own past experiences. One was that an air tank fell over, the valve broke off, and it broke through several cinderblock walls and a car. Another story, he just started teaching at a small school, and wanted to have the kid’s fear the gaseous mixter, so he went and got some balloons. He filled one balloon to the size of a volleyball with oxygen only, took out a match, lit it, touched it to the balloon; small pop. He then filled the next balloon half that size with gas only, took a lit match, touched the balloon; little bigger pop. Then (can’t quite remember the size, but it was smaller than the gas balloon) he filled the balloon with both, took a lit match, touched the balloon; the windows of the shop were blown out and kid’s were gone for a week with hearing problems.

  42. Darkpheonix XIII says:

Sorry for the long comment, but it’s funny.

Another thing: Don’t weld under a car with a bic lighter in your breast pocket. if a spark melts through the plastic, it has the same power as three dynamite sticks. Happened to a guy my teacher knew.

  43. ale says:

no offense, but your teacher sounds like a fibber

  44. Chivalrybean says:

I totally hear you! I had to change the Coke tanks when I worked Fast Food, and I was sure they were going to explode and I was going to be a McShrapnel victim.

  45. Lisa says:

I was going to guess pea soup pop. If any one were to make it, it would be jones soda.

  46. Elkian says:

What would happen if you tried to freeze that?

  47. Bug says:

Looks like Creme Soda to me. But I here that American Creme Soda is bright pink!! Wowee ours is bright green. I really wanna try Pink Creme Soda. I have never heard of Green River Soda, sounds like something you would drink if you were out of options. A green river doesn’t sound very appetizing…

  48. Sarah says:

Ratboy – My initial thought was Slurm as well!

Love the comic! Linked to it from Something Positive a few days ago. I’ve been going through the archives ever since. Many of Biff’s adventures/misadventures have made me laugh out loud to the annoyance of those around me. Keep up the good work!

  49. Sipan says:

Soda + Helium = WHY THE HELL NOT? Guess it’d just make the bubbles float up to the ceiling, but alone that would be awesome. Or… foam up jelly with it?

Screw it. You know that cans you use to hold windows in the wall, those which produce polyurethane foam? Imagine the possibilities. Imagine.

(Blue noodles floating up in the mall. Heh.)

  50. Shana says:

I know it’s a little late, but Melon Soda~? If you ever go to Japan, get it at a Restaurant. It’s better from the tap~

  51. EmoToast says:

    I bet its rootbeer.

  52. Benzene the Scientist says:

Darn, I thought it was 7-UP

  53. John says:

By the looks of it Radioactive Urine is his favorite soda. a.k.a. Mountain Dew

  54. Marscaleb says:

This page made me laugh out loud.
