Darned floor…always turning into lava.
You have my sympathy, Biff.
I always used to play that when I was little.
Oh, man, the memories. That’s great.
it was always an ocean full of sharks at my house.
This reminds me of one of my favorite Family Guy episodes.
Also, I thought that was blood at first. Like he was somehow in “The Shining.”
I remember many a playground injury, always caused by falling into the lava. And the lava would then infect my soul and morph me into an evil lava creature, out to grab and pull another innocent victim into the lava so I could reclaim my soul and damn his. A great game.
Lava floor. God, I remember when my stepson used to use that as an excuse why he couldn’t come when I called him. “But the floor is hot lava!” Heh.
So…Biff’s furniture can drink levitation potions AND withstand lava…amazing! I wonder if Biff will be selling any of his furniture in the future.
I wonder how that wooden table resist the heat 😀
The lava room is some sorta of hell/Satan’s room I imagine.
Lava! Combined with the previous comic’s title, Lava Lamp! 😛
They did a similar thing on Toothpate for Dinner a while back.
That’s like, my favorite game! O: Right up until the floor ate my bed.
I only played this game with red tiled floors as a kid. I loved trips to our mall because the floor there had mostly red tiles but there were some near-paths made from black tiles. Required just enough jumping to keep me entertained and not annoy my parents too much (at least they didn’t show it).
Anyway… it makes me think of the “obligatory lava level” in video games (masterfully spoofed by the recent Bard’s Tale).
XD
That reminds me of my favorite game when I was little! That was so much fun.
Hehe that reminds me of when I convinced one of my drunk friends that the floor actually was lava… and that the lava monsters were going to get her.
I’ve read through all the archives, and I think they’re all great. I hadn’t left a comment until now, but this is just priceless. Especially the way he’s teetering towards the phone. Great stuff, keep up the good work.
I always used to play that game!
“sweet childish days, that were as long as twenty days are now”
-Woodsworth
This is one of the best examples of the randomness of older Biff comics. The fact that there’s no explanation whatsoever as to the floor being made of LAVA makes it so much better. You’re the best Chris!
Noo! Don’t FALL!!
Used to love this game–
great work, Chris!
Haha, I used to play that as a kid too. It was even better in my living room because the carpet was actually red. ^.^
I used to do that as a kid…but seeing as I’m just starting this whole teen thing that wasn’t too long ago… but anyway great comic! And I have to find a way to get on here earlier. I’ve always wanted to be the first comment.
Whoops! How did that lamp break? XD
I absolutely love your comic, such a feel good comic. Great work.
I read through all of them a little while a go, and this one finally prompted me to comment.
Wonderful.
No wonder biff never awnsers his phone.
I remember that when I was little. This made my lol in RL.
Hah, I remember playing this in our basement. It was alternately a lava pit or an ocean of hungry sharks, depending on how we felt that day. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
oh my god i loved that game when i was little except if i touched the ground a big pit would open and a bounch grandparents(eeewww)would start pulling my cheek and kiss me, am i right chris (oh yeah) grate comics ,good ideas. peace,(oh yeah(again) i like coffe but i love kool aid(lemonade),ooohhh yeeaah 🙂
oohh crap its happening again ,no grand ma not the cheeks, ooffkk
That just makes me feel lazy. I only have a normal floor 😀
My house has a bunch of different floor colors.
red = lava, blue = water, yellow = quicksand, sheetvinyl = bottomless hole, wood = safe.
Soetimes I would wear bouyant, heat resistant shoes, to cross the three types of carpet. But, I still would die if I fell into a hole.
was this before or after the blue designer phone bug infestation?
Clearly this is Biff’s solution to the blue designer phone bug infestation. Those stylish vermin are clearly incinerated by now, and good riddance, I say! Also, I see that Biff changed his phone, possibly as an early attempt to counter the blue designer phone bugs, to a.. uh.. what would you call that color? Let’s just hope that the BDPBs don’t evolve into a lava-resistant form that looks exactly like the phone Biff has now.
This reminds me of Toothpastefordinner…
biff should make a bridge, but designer phone bugs wouldnt be able to live there kiche, you silly goose
Anyone who did not play this game as a child had a terrible youth.
Anyone who plays this game as an adult… is probably having more fun than I am, to be honest.
For example, my uncle teaches art (to college students, not ten-year-olds) and one of them actually called out, for no apparent reason, “The floor is made of lava!” Everyone instantly picked their feet up off the floor, except my uncle, who was standing for a demonstration and had no nearby furniture to seek refuge on.
Anyhow, this one made me crack up.
Oh my god one of my favorite yet! I was looking at the picture without the caption and just going WHAT THE HELL over and over, chuckling until I saw the caption which made me laugh out loud.
This game. Was awesome. Thank you sir, for the great memories of when I still had recess.
Ah, thank you. This one really brings back good memories.
I too played this game. Unfortunatly, we only had small rugs all over the place, so I’d jump between those instead. If I had tried it with furniture, I would have been confined to one thing, since all the furniture was to far apart to jump
LOL. I love it.
this sadly remnds me of the simpsons where Homer is all “I wanted to (something) and now the floors made of hot lava.”
o my god i have always loved that game! I actually did it again recently (even though im in high school), just because malls are so geared toward women now that guys have to amuse themselves somehow…yay nostalgia!
So many Comedy Central flashbacks.
I played the lava game before. It’s at the peak of fun when you do it in a playground with a bunch of people your age – 17 – and punch the guy that fell as hard as you can then running away really fast. Ok, it’t not the same game, but it’s still fun.
Back when I was smaller I INVENTED the lava floor. I swear, everybody copied me!
Oh how I loved that game.
Fun. Especially if there are pillows. Pick up, set down, jump, repeat until you reach where you want to go.
Sometimes I think my cat plays that game. Seriously, she follows the couches for so long before she even thinks of getting on the floor.
I remember one time she jumped from my lap to her favorite perch and I wondered why she didn’t just cross the bed or the floor.
In middle school, during recess, I used to imagine the woodchips on the playground were lava (speaking of woodchips, why the hell do they use them for playgrounds, i mean if you fall wrong, you get a woodchip in your eye or something). the playground consisted of a few somewhat connected jungle gyms, wether by monkey bars or a foot and a half jump onto a balance beam. The fastest I made it from one end to the other without touching the ground was about 2.45 minutes.
If anyone want’s details of my course, just ask. I’ll send an email or post again.
I loved and love the Lava game. I still play it sometimes if my cousin is in the mood to act out the book we are making but he is currently obsessed with making and finishing it. We both want to try and make it into a game eventually. Anyways, the floor would be a danger zone.
I also did the game alone or with my brother too, irritate the heck out of Mom and Dad. hehehe. I think I’ll try and play it tomorrow even with the fact that most of my house is wood flooring and has no spots to stand on…
I want lava floor. I would never be cold anymore. Also, to hell with the phone, I’m a mysanthrope anyways.
Wouldn’t all his stuff get sucked away?
lol
Maybe I should stop prank-calling Biff. Either that, or call him more…
I played that game when I was younger. We had this huge rope by our treehouse and we would have to swing from the ladder to the grassy area without touching the dirt underneath the rope. It was fun.
“The floor is lava!” “Noo! What’s wrong with you?” *climbing up on things
This reminds me of when I sprained my wrist jumping off the top of a five step playscape when I was about four.
“Ok, Let’s Pretend The Floor Is Made Out of Lava” has to be a part of the human genetic code. seriously. is there any kid anywhere who has not played this game?
i know the feeling, biff
This is just so random…. I love it.
I think Biff is glad he installed heat and lava proof furniture.
That’s not lava; Biff probably had a ketchup pipe start leaking.
…or a strawberry jam pipe…
mmm….
*goes to make a strawberry jam sandwich*
Haha….Wow, we used to play this at the park all the time. My older sister and her friend would be up in the ‘boat’, (the big playground set; kinda like two treehouses with slides on each of them; a bridge connected the first one to a middle section with the “boat’s” wheel, and then a tunnel went to the other one. XD Great times.) and apparently I couldn’t just climb the ladder, no, I had to come running up the slide…which of course, I was too little to have mastered yet. Made me SO mad, because they would float off without me and leave me to the lava monsters. -_- XDD
I played this all the damn time with my younger sister. Unfortunatly I was an unimaginative lout and the first thing I always jumped on was the couch. I was also a fat little bastard and teh closest things to jump on I knew couldnt support my weight, so I was stuck…
Is he renting from Dr. Evil?
‘Molten hot magma….’
Doesn’t his house have magic grey squares that AREN’T lava? .w.
Reminds me of this…check it out: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConvectionSchmonvection
Just use your levitation potion, Biff…
It’s alot easier. >_>
In school my friends and I play a game called the floor is lava. So when someone calls “THE FLOOR IS LAVA!” everyone has five seconds to get off the ground, and stay there until the person that called it says “Floor is floor.” It’s funny to watch everyone jumping on all sorts of things, books, random peoples lockers, and even other people.
My brothers played that alot but had to pay for most of the damage, especially in my room.
