#182 – Stick

I hiked up to the top of a mountain in New Mexico once. It really didn’t seem too hard getting up there. I had some great views from up there. But then I had to hike back down. That was sheer torture. The muscles in the front of my legs just weren’t ready for something like that. The next day it was almost impossible to walk. The funny thing is that a few days later the memory of the pain started to fade and I wanted to do it again.

what improvements does electricity add to a walking stick?

    great comic

  2. Meric says:

    Thats what usually happens

  3. DMC_Run says:

Sadly, many choose their computer (& software) the same way: based on the IDEA of it, rather than how functional it really is – or if it’s even needed at all, for that matter. Such is the (dark) magic of aggressive advertising.

  4. Blargen-Vargen says:

I cannot even imagine the multitude of uses for the Electric Hiking Stick

  5. Lsharp says:

    Now I want one too…

  7. Cheez says:

Beleive it or not, I’ve actually seen one of them. The battery was smaller and in a backpack though.

  8. Mal says:

I don’t know what it does, but I want one.

  9. Leon says:

It’s heated for walking in the snow….. Or maybe it walks for you, just dragging you along the path… in which case the battery pack wouldnt matter. I dunno. What is it, Chris?

  10. KryHavok says:

Maybe its a conspiracy and contacts random aliens around the universe o.O

Or you press some button and acts as a tazer for the large animals you may encounter.

  11. Alchav says:

    I want one!!!

  12. DMC_Run says:

    …I rest my case…

  13. Ju says:

    Aliens! o/

Or maybe it can be used as kitchen appliances when you need that blender or waffle maker in the wild. The craving for maple syrup would be torturous though…

  14. some kid says:

i wonder if it can kill people

  15. Iethloc says:

Well, Biff certainly seems okay. It’s obviously not doing a very god job of killing.

  16. Knownimus says:

Come to think of it, Biff hasn’t been badly injured for a little while… it’s a miracle…

Still love this comic though. 😀

  17. some kid says:

i mean maby its a wepon

  18. some kid says:

is that wow you spell that

  19. NobleSavage says:

    Hehe, that’s clever…

  20. Endless says:

    An Ode to Chris:

We’ll worship our freind with his skin of gray…
Until poor Biff has passed aaaawaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!
We will vote for this comic every daaaayyyyyy!!
    And never turn around.

I wrote this in two minutes, which is why it sucks…

    Thanks Chris!

  21. Ahmed says:

This reminds me of the electric tennis ball

  22. Iethloc says:

    Electric eyebrows?

  23. jadestone33 says:

omg, that reminded me about what happened when i went on my school mission trip to mexico. going UP isnt half as bad as going DOWN…
i kept sliping on the fracking dusty rocky road.

  24. Tri Unlimited says:

I saw your link on a couple of pages and finally descided to see what the fuss was about, and I would like to say that you have an amazing comic with much imagination and talent. Keep up the good work.

  25. Chris says:

Thanks Tri Unlimited. I didn’t realize I was causing a fuss anywhere 🙂

  26. Iethloc says:

    Random thought: Battery-powered fuss.

    Could it work?

  27. Zur says:

    hey Chris,
Just found your comic today (i forget how…) and have read through all of them. Just want to say great comic and keep up the good work.. And long live Biff.

  28. Jak_B says:

I guess it could. Maybe huge fan or jet would do the trick… Or bomb 😛 Nice piece of art, Chis. I’m reading for a longer time.

  29. Otacon says:

I havent been here in a while, and id like to say love the new additions to the comics and hope to see more later on….in other words still love the comic. =]

  30. some kid says:

how do you people read so fast

it took me a month to read it all

  31. Stuporman says:

The electric walking stick…this item will quickly become yet another novelty item that has no purpose but people will buy anyway. I would like to point out one other item, that may have had the same impact. I present to you…the DVD rewinder. Yes folks it exists. Google it…I dare you. For a little over 20 bucks you can watch a DVD spin counter clockwise for five minutes and delude yourself to the fact that you are indeed rewinding a DVD.

  32. Chris says:

    Thanks Jak_B.

I’m glad you came back Otacon.

  33. Chris says:

    Endless, that was hilarious! 🙂

  34. Chris says:

Hey Zur, thanks for stopping by.

  35. Endless says:

    >Endless, that was hilarious!

    I feel loved

  36. Chryssta says:

@Stuporman – Where’d you come up with that?! I laughed myself into an asthma attack! Omg, now I have to google it, I gotta know if it’s real… I don’t want it, I just want to laugh some more.

  37. Chryssta says:

*stares in absolute horror* Oh my god… its true… someone made a DVD Rewinder…

    WHY?!?!

  38. Rikapuppy says:

I actually prefer walking (running and falling every few seconds) down a mountain than walking up. o_o

A DVD rewinder? D: Now I gotta google it too. ._.

  39. Endless says:

DVD rewinder! Never be plagued with video store rewind fees again!

  40. ninjakyrosaki says:

    Heh.

Reminds me of Boy Scouts. One of the adult leaders had a pedometer, and we were on a hike, five miles in, five miles out…supposedly. After about two hours of hiking we were getting pretty sick of it, and persisted in asking him how much farther. “Half a mile more!” he’d call out.

It took another hour to make that half mile.

It was a mad dash for us scouts back once he said we’d made it as far out as five miles. We were running as hard and fast as possible after a fifteen minute rest break, bound and determined to get food.

That hike sucked. But, we got snow the next morning, so it was all good.

  41. Tyc says:

After about a month of off-and on popping by, I think it’s time I finally bookmarked this site, so I may partake of its awsomeness at my leisure.

An eletric walking stick… I’d probably buy it.

  42. Stryker says:

an electric walking stick? a dvd reqinder? what will they come out with next, a machine that sleeps for you?
Great comics Chris, keep em commin. i read through em in a couple of days, and the laughs were so worth it.

  43. I’m surprised we haven’t seen rewinders for video game tapes. :p

  44. Neyro says:

Let me guesse… The next product will be the Electric Sink. Get shocked every time you wash somethign! Perfect for waking up!

  45. PeterC says:

    The Electric Walker Stick
It has a jack hammer head so that it can penetrate rock.
UV emitter to kill insects so no more getting stung or bothered by flies.
    Massager to easy muscle cramps.
    Heater to warm your hands
A Locator Unit in case you need rescuing
    GPS
WARNING Not designed for outdoor use due to high voltages required to operate some components

  46. Justin says:

It’s said that the body is great at forgetting pain.

If it wasn’t, we’d all be the only child in each household.

  47. 66point6 says:

    SOOOoooo true…
I think whatever Entity presides over Earth as the Resident Higher Power has a twisted sense of humor.

  48. APic says:

That thing is bound to blow up.

  49. DemonRex says:

Buuut, what does it actually do? Does it bounce back up when you put it down? What?

  50. Darkpheonix XIII says:

Ah, the inconvenient conveniencies of the modern world.

  51. Hoboapple says:

    Ah, a grreat invention!

  52. Rachel says:

That wins the most unnessisary improvements to an already perfect invention award!

  53. Elkian says:

I can’t see ‘Excelsior’ anywhere on it, so I have to ask – has it a compass?

(kudos, MAJOR KUDOS, to those who know what I’m talking about.)

  54. Deteramot says:

I’ve no idea, although I am reminded of 8 bit theater.

I think hiking is torture, but I think Karate is worse. Doing two hundred round-house kicks really slow in a row is torture on your legs.

  55. Crazyeyes says:

I also climbed a mountain in NM. 😀
However, it took most of a week to get there…and nobody had actually mentioned that this was a *mountain* hike…

  56. Corinthiar says:

The electric walking stick is perfect for getting picked up and the battery pack even contains an extra fluffy towel.
