#175 – Keys

Chapter: Comics
I used to work at an ice cream store with my best friend. His key chain was a long string of 25 or 30 different pieces. Consequently it didn’t fit it in his pocket and he would leave it on the back counter. No matter how many times I hid it on him, he refused to take off the extra part of the chain. He had to spend 5-10 min every day on a scavenger hunt before he could go home. I think I found it more amusing than he did.

Heh. This comic is quite whimsical, and also a tad bit thought provoking at times. It’s easy to relate with Biff because although he seems to be less than intelligent, he is merely acting on the kind of ideas that pop into everyone’s head from time to time – those ideas that make you stop and think “Wait, that would NEVER work!”
Keep rocking, Chris-man. Looking forward to more comics – both from Biff and Captain Excelsior!
first post ^^
how much fun was it drawing all those keys, chris? HooooOoooo!
i used to forget my house keys all the time as a teenager. i’d come creeping home in the wee hours and my stepfather would intentionally lock me out. sleeping on the porch steps is not cozy!
*Of to buy 3000 screws*
I put all my keys on one chain, that way when I loose one I loose all. That way you take care of your keys. 😉
Is it just me or does those keys look dangerous or like sea-monkeys? o.O
It’s all in the copy-paste Chris, all in the copy-paste, some of those keys differ. =)
Just trippin’, great comic! Keep it up!
Oh right, forgot to say that it would be fun to see Biff in a “real” picture. 🙂
Just a thought.
jingle jingle jingle of a thousand keys…..erm three thousand?
I keep all of my keys on a D-ring when I work in the zoo. This comic makes me giggle something fierce in the mornings.
Nice Job!
Thanks Enzo Dragon, glad you made it here.
That’s not such a bad idea, really. When I first saw the picture (not having read the text yet), I figured he’d bought some car key wallpapers and thusly lost his real ones ’cause he couldn’t remember where he hung them up. 😛
Something I’ve been wondering – Biff isn’t alone in this universe of his, is he? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other person but him in the comic…no family, no friends? No pets?
very nice Chris… i used to loose my bike ke all the time then 1 day i went to my uncle (a keymakerdude) and he made me 6 spare keys…
still got 1 left o/
I though it was going to be a new wallpaper at first as well. I like the one nail that doesn’t have a key on it.
Robert, yeah, there is evidence of other people in his universe (like the person that sewed his jacket sleeve closed) but we have never seen them. We have seen creatures though, like the Gungerlock in #4.
Err… why do I have the feeling that Chris and I have had the same dream, where one runs to the door in a hurry to get somewhere, only to find thousands of hooks of thousands of key rings, none of which seem to be ours?
Man, my keyring makes me feel sorta useless now. I think I have maybe 5 keys and a lighter… It used to be more, but then I stopped working, and my keychain is now smaller than ever. 🙁
Lucky number thirteen for my keyring…which is several key rings attached to each other, along with various extra bits dangling on it, haha.
The desert keeps getting colder. And wetter.
Lol.
Are those keys inside or outside his front door? If inside, what happens if he locks himself out? lol
It’s not that I have a lot of keys on my keyring… it’s that there’s a few keys on there that I’m not sure what they go to… And I’m afraid to take them off of there in case I come across the lock they’re for…
And Dark… those are probably on the inside so he can grab his car keys on the way out… No sense leaving them outside so just anyone can grab his carkeys… Besides, he wouldn’t have room out there… he probably keeps his housekeys outside in case he loses one…
Im scared of when Biff gets bored of having to actually pick the keys off the wall and invents an electromagnet for picking them up.
This kinda reminds me of The League of Gentlemen, you know when the Dentons are showing their nephew around the house and they that cupboard full of keys, and they’re all colour coded? Although Biff doesn’t seem to have an obsession for toads. Or scary children.
before i read the caption, and saw the picture this is what i thought:
“that housekey wallpaper is a pain when needing to find the acual house keys”
(or something like that)
but thats funny too.
…so I would sneak around to Biffs house that night & change the lock.
why doesn’t he just replace one of his hands with a cyborg one? Then, he could just store it inside, and then it would extend from one of his fingers.
Knowing Biff, he could lose that one too.
Oh, this comic isn’t all that old, is it?
Ah yes, the good ole days at King Kone when you would hide my keys. I have no idea why I kept such a huge collection of key chains. Those memories are almost as vivid as when you would pour jalepeno juice into my rootbeer.
O.o well, if someone ever broke into his house, they would have a free getaway car. XD
I found this comic through a sidebar ad on Shortpacked!, attracted to it by the sampling of comics seen on it. I will now proceed to add this comic to my webcomic list, and also post it on a message board I frequent. Yay free advertising! I’m looking forward to the crazed misadventures of the mightily eyebrowed wonder known only as Biff.
=D
T.S. – You’re absolutely right. I misread the comic at first and assumed they were house keys, lol.
Hey MXR, thanks for stopping by.
What does Biff drive? Im imagining that a car wouldnt be nearly logical enough…Im imagining a tank so he doesnt have to worry about traffic or something.
“When the air force finally arrived Biff realised that using a Sherman to make his daily commute shorter may have been a bad idea”
Biff drives a green invisible car.
duh… he keeps it very clean and shiny, so the green is always quite sparkly.
Looks like Biff lives in a really safe place, having all those keys for his car is not very smart when there’s the possibility that someone could break in…
But if they are his spare car keys wouldn’t it make more sense to hang them on the outside of the car so he can get in if he looses the key while he’s out. Invisible keys of course.
Though thinking about it they’d clash with the car.
YES! perfect idea, thanks Biff/Chris!
lol, I’d do this too, because I’m always ‘losing’ my keys (they’re easily found)
Hi all…i’ve been reading through the archives for some time now (mostly at work 😀 ) and here i was unable to resist posting a comment…
Chris, it seems that the friend of yours was similar to me, I had keychain (made of amount of keyrings attached together) long about 50 cm, whole thing weighted almost a kilogram (sorry for metric units, here in Czech we are not used to measure in inches) and consisted mostly of rubbish (of a sort…theese things were invaluable to me at that time…and part of my syle, yes 😀 )
This comix is a great one, far most funny i have ever seen…
If he has that many keys for each car, then the prices for keys has probably gone up.
Huh. I’m really forgetful, so I could use a system like that.
At least he didn’t put them on the outside…
A few is an understatement.
One of Biff’s rare moments of brilliance.
I’d probably lose it on the way to the car….thank God I don’t yet have my liscense (sees jbox ‘drive safely’ charm) I should buy that for Chloe…the only person who will ever crash into themselves (she can’t drive yet either, so I’ll make sure she stocks up on charms)
Chris did use copy/paste for the keys.
If you look up/down in a slightly zig-zag fashion you will see that there are rows of c/p ‘ed keys!
Nice way to make it look real while being lazy chris 😉
Alternate the rows of copy and paste so it looks like you drew them all… hehehe.
Over all: Great comic. Found it a few weeks/months ago.
I’ve seriously concidered doing this.
Key patterned wallpaper!
are those for both his van and his invisible green car?
For everybody reading the archives either front-to-back or back-to-front: THIS is how many cars Biff has. 😛
Robert, someone else keeps leaving the peanut butter sitting around with the lid off.
But then he got car-key wallpaper, so he STILL couldn’t find those darn keys…
your webcomics have brought much joy to my life. As a person with Aspergher’s Syndrome, I have Chronic Depression. I’m glad I found this comic! I have something to look forward to everyday! 😀
