Hahah, he’s looking at his own website. Awesome. Good taste.

  2. Chris says:

Yeah I was going to make it just his desktop at first, but this was more fun. 🙂

  3. hunter says:

is he looking at him, looking at him, looking at him? (looking at this page)

  4. Chris says:

Well I think he’s actually looking at the bacon.

  5. yadaman says:

he’s actually looking at the comic before this one.

  6. Bach says:

My laptop gets hot enough to fry an egg as well.

  7. omegaweopon says:

    He has a dell doesn’t he 😉

I have a laptop the get so hot, I have actually thrown it in the freezer to cool it down. Stupid plasma screens and freezing intolerance.

  8. Chris says:

    No, actually it’s a PowerBook G4

They get hot just like the rest of them. 🙂

  9. Xim says:

I powered my breakfast this morning, strangely enough, and I cannot figure out why, but it didn’t work too well, and I ended up late for school

  10. Calthin says:

Supposedly, the heat from laptops can cause sterillity in men if they are actually used as laptops. It’s probably for the best if Biff has no kids, though.

  11. Chryssta says:

Huh… I’d heard the same thing. For me though (female) it just burned my leg real bad, so I have a permanant mark on my right thoigh where it burned me before I got my chill pad (the internal fan doesnt cool the system anymore)

  12. *note to self*

Tell wife the unexplained ‘thigh-hickies’ are laptop burns.
    Yeah, that’s the ticket.

    Thanks Chrssta!

  13. Sarten X says:

In high school once, the power went out the night before an assignment was due. We had one UPS and a laptop. I wrote up my assignment on the laptop, then used the UPS to run the printer. The next morning, the power was still out, so I had a cold breakfast, but I passed the class.

I wish I had used electricity more wisely.

  14. Lisa says:

So it’s not just my laptop that does this! It burned out the monitor a week and a half ago.

  15. Wow, I’ve been reading through the archives.. and I must say I love every comic so far.

This no longer happens to me, I bought one of those stands with the fans in em. It used to happen to me though.

  16. zantarath says:

Never happened to me. But my Laptop is brandnew.

  17. Female Fox Furry says:

    Glad I don’t have a laptop~

  18. Konola says:

    I have 2 HUGE OLD laptops, I didn’t need a heater.

  19. SoulCrux says:

It wuldve been done faster if he had a laptop with a 512 MB RAM, and was playing World of Warcrft, and coocked it on the Exhaust Fan place

  20. ratboy says:

SoulCrux, 512 RAM is way to little to run WoW. Sorry, if u read my post on the last comic u would know i payed too much attention in school. Now i’m tellin u i’m a techie too. If your lap top gets hot enuf to burn u and the internal fan quits u need to get it looked at. if the CPU gets too hot (or any other part for that matter) it can fry your whole system.

  21. Darkpheonix XIII says:

*sniff, sniff* I wish i had a laptop.

  22. DemonRex says:

    I don’t think I want one.

  23. Changeling says:

ahahaha…… that’s the computer I’m using right now. the little “feet” broke off, so now I stack it on pencils on my desk.

  24. Radical Edward says:

It appears he’s reading the previous cartoon (#127) while making breakfast.

  25. Anz says:

This reminds me of my boyfriend’s laptop. It overheats so easily it’s actually burned my skin (badly) through two layers of clothes before. Hell, I’m roasting marshmallows over it this winter.

  26. Plankster says:

Using compressed air to blow the dust out of your laptop can help cool it down. Every couple of months my Toshiba starts to overheat to the point that it shuts itself down, and I have to blow it out (only I use an air compressor 🙂

  27. Charlotte says:

I usually leave my laptop running all day, and it actually warms my bedroom up quite a lot. Which is good right now because our boiler’s playing up at the moment so we’re leaving it off as much as possible usually though my mother gets quite jealous of my nice toasty room but I always find it too hot to sleep in 🙁

  28. Terrorbob says:

grease from that bacon is gonna leave a lot of sticky keys

  29. the Scarf says:

Maybe This website is more a Scrapbook of Biff…all of his misadventures. *chuckle*

Erm…Chris…what is Biff anyways? I never thought of him as actually being human, and I voiced my thoughts on him being a crash test dummy/roach in a different comment…

Perhaps a “origin of Biff” comic…

  30. Elkian says:

    Nice priorities, there.

  31. Laurel Raven says:

ratboy, 512 MB of RAM is not too little to run WoW. I used to do this on both my old laptop, and my current one, before I upgraded it to 2 Gigs.

I think that was his point, too…the less ram, the more swapping and the harder the computer has to work, meaning the hotter it gets.

Yes, if a computer gets so hot it will cook eggs, it will fry itself. I’m a tech, too. But it is a lot less fun to point that out than to just enjoy the image of someone doing it.

You can’t be so literal in the World of Biffcraft, dammit!

  32. teres says:

I’ve left my laptop on at the foot of the bed on really cold nights… keeps the toes toasty. Next morning all the cats were huddled around it, though none were actually /on/ it.

  33. Andara Bledin says:

ratboy, you’re wrong. 512 is plenty to run WoW. Sure, it won’t be all that pretty, and you’ll get a mini lag-spike every time another player gets into range, but it’s a great way to detect those sneaky stealthed rogues coming to gank your a$$….

  34. Torg says:

I need to remove some RAM NOW! Those rogues always give me trouble!

  35. Torg says:

And I have the box in front of me. 512 MB is enough for the original, not sure about Burning Crusade though, I think that needs something like 700.

  36. Pom Rania says:

Yeah, my laptop gets pretty hot too; but I put it on an old binder, and THEN on top of whatever. Currently I’m using two pillows to get it at the right height.

  37. cayra says:

XD I always use my laptops ventilation as a heater for my feet.

  38. Zinn says:

My old computer, you had to have it tilted at a certain angle to make it work (because I dropped it so many times) and it would heat up SO quickly.

  39. TylerP says:

Yeah my Laptop, 3 months after I bought it started shutting down after a while but then I realized that I need to just blow out the fan unit in order to get it to work again… I didn’t think you could build up that much dust in a few months!

  40. Soltueur says:

My laptop just overheats and shuts itself down =(

Im using my dad’s computer to surf comics while i get the fan repaired

  41. Leah says:

I actually tried this on my laptop. Sadly, it worked.

  42. SaixDecirr says:

Chirs, i have the same problem with my laptop. If i work with it for about 2 hours it feels as if my knees are about to burn off

  43. Computerguyac says:

My laptop xps m1220 Dell had a dustbunny the side if a large marble in the heatsink. It was so hot it a- burned you and b- wouldn’t want to turn on.

  44. chrisleech says:

you don’t create a biff it just is a state of being which is why we have so called immortal with many cars, biff he is not immortal everyone in his world at one time or another experiences biffness

  45. Valdrec says:

It’s twice as funny that the advert that displayed above was for Laptop cooling pads.

  46. Arcan says:

Heat like that in a laptop is usually a sign of a clogged heat heat, which you actually can’t just use compressed air to clear it. Blowing in from the outside just pushes the dust back into the fan. You need to take the patio apart to clean it. I’ve been working as a computer tech for a few years and I’ve seen some real nasty fans and heatsinks. The worst is when the owner of the system smokes while using it, that cause the system to fill up with this disgusting black tar. That’ll kill a system much faster than normal dust.

    1. Arcan says:

Gah! Clogged heat sink. Not heat heat. It’s hard to see more than one line of text when I’m typing on my phone.
