What the heck?!
It’s an old Spielberg movie reference.
This is important. This means something.
Gnafu – exactly!
what does it mean?
Ok, you know when you have a devil’s food cake? Remember when you were a kid, and you’d eat the half inch of icing on the side before bothering with the actual cake? (maybe I was the only one who did this, but still, childhood pleasure here, guys) I think that’s what’s going on.
And if you haven’t done this, do it. Savour the chocolat(e?)y icing!
Bu wa hahahahahahahaha!
Hee hee hee… Close Encounters of the Third Kind, guys. The main character, Roy, makes a sculpture of Devil’s Tower out of mashed potatoes with a fork, but can’t figure out what it means. Hence Gnafu’s quote…
Dang evil forks.
I live about 40 miles away from the tower. Trust me, there ain’t no city. Just a bunch of pine trees, sagebrush, and a bunch of stupid hicks like me.
Close Encounters of the Fork Kind!!
hahaha….. close encounters of the fork kind…. thats good mew. x3
Hooray for obscure movie references!
are you guys crazy? that’s far from an obscure reference. it’s only the most famous reference from one of the most famous sci-fi movies of all time (excluding Star Wars, of course)–a reference i got imediately dispite having NEVER SEEN THE FILM, i might add.
‘devil’s food cake’…? I don’t like icing… And I didn’t get the refrence, but I laughed anyway. o.O
Wannabeelf> I saw that movie and didn’t get the reference. Then again, there being a mashed potato sculpture is all I remember.
I just wonder what was at the top that made biff think of climbing it.
CAN SOMEONE REMIND ME WHAT A HICK IS AGIAN
I remember the french scientist being played by famous french director François Truffaut. truly a beautiful film. Too bad Spielberg does movies with the like of Tom Cruise now.
Hicks are what you see when you come to my house. Some of them are relatives, some we’re not sure where they came from.
mashed potato wasn’t brown since i last looked.
hicks are people who dress up in white shirts and jeans.
its chocolate mashed potato :3
Ok, where are you people getting chocolate from? Devils Tower is in Wyoming, an actual place and national park. It has what could be compared to fork scrapings on it’s sides. The image and location was used in the movie Close Encounters of etc. There was a mashed potato tower made, and a trash heap tower made inside Roy’s house. (That’s why his family left him.) Devils Tower has nothing to do with Devils Food Cake. Besides, on the cake the frosting is all smooth and stuff, although it would be cool to make a cake out of devils chocolate and make it all tall and crap. Then shape it to Devil’s tower and put the chocolate icing on and scrape it with a fork… MMMMMmmmm. Chocolate….
That happened to me once.
BRAIN…HURTS ..TOO MUCH..S..strain……
the joke kinda loses its humour when it as to be explained 5 or 6 times….
hicks are sentient fungus.
SiaWhit – where are you NOT getting chocolate from?
I like chocolate, whether it’s on Devils plateu, hill, elevation, big piece of ground or not
I GOT THIS ONE WITHOUT EVEN READING THE CAPTION!
You’re a genius. :]
I’m gonna been laughing about this one for a while.
i thought he was climbing a piece of cake when somone started to eat it… 0o
i think this refers to a mountain climbing term, and that’s what i believe
Biff has fork issues
Biff get a spork or something….
I’m aware of the mashed potato scene but this comic obviously doesn’t need to be explained as a movie reference or any other kind of reference. It’s just a joke that the sides of devil’s tower LOOK like they’ve been scraped with a fork.
According to Geckoman, hicks are people that are destined to become headcrab zombies (possibly obscure game reference?)
Half Life, That person.
Devil’s Tower…If it’s anything like Forks out here in Washington state, a lot of hicks will swarm. (Then again, my sister thinks that vampires live there. The only life in Forks is trees. Big stupid trees that are easy to get someone lost in them.)
